Loco run-round at Dunblane. 29/05/2011 at 01:01 #3108

I have scoured the forum in case this has come up before and the only thing I can find is this post which doesn't really solve my problem.

What I want to do is create a timetable for a loco hauled train which (ideally) arrives in Platform 3 at Dunblane, loco detaches from front and runs round train via Dunblane North (Rev) and Dunblane South (Rev), re-attaches on rear of train and shunts to Platform 1 via Dunblane North (Rev).

All is well until the run-round loco reaches Dunblane South (Rev) and I set the ground frame signal (DB53) into Platform 3. Except the signal never clears and I have to authorise the driver to pass it at danger. After this the loco joins without problem, shunts and is on it's way.

I have even tried using P2 (not ideal as I want to keep the main running line clear) and the same problem occurs.

(I also tried running the light engine in from Stirling but I couldn't even set a route from DB54 to either DB53 or DB45/DB42.)

Should I be able to do this without having to PSAD DB53 or is it a known issue? I'm sure I remember excursions operated by SRPS and ScotRail (back in the Chris Green days in the mid 80's) starting from Dunblane and using this run-round procedure.

it may just be that the ground signal wont allow permissive working into p3 or 2. in which case th method above is acceptable. just put a note in with the timetable

I'd suggest that the main purpose of the 'running shunt' signal, and the LOS in the other direction, is to allow this sort of run-round move, so I'd be surprised if moves couldn't be signalled into an occupied platform from there.
