I would like to see a SimSig based on the line from Holyhead to Chester. You could have it set up as per Euston with different era's. Era one could be approx 1977 and then have a modern era 2012. 1977 version could have all the siding etc that used to be along the coast line and the container terminal at Holyhead as well. Modern Era .....well you still have the Juntions at Llandudno , leading to Betsy Coed and Llandudno. The sim could have an entry point just after the Junction to Wrexham , Saltney. Then you do not have to model Chester, unless you can ! Then you got the 4 way junction at Chester ! Reason for Era 1977 is that there is a web site "2D53" that has loads of wtt approx 1964 upwards !

Rugby SCC would be a conflict of interest as it's a TRE sim product.

Rugby PSB might be doable however.

Bletchley could possibly be an area. Having looked at the trackmap's area (midland region , book 4) it's a reasonable area but i can't mind offhand if it includes Milton Keynes Central. That area would be good before and after the modernisation and expansion in the area. Variety of traffic , various era's and rolling stock. Bear in mind MKC has 6 bi-di platforms now instead of 4 uno direction lines and one bay. Plus control of the yard entry/exit at Bletchley. If only i knew how to create!

MK is part of Rugby SCC. Bletchley will be - soon, if it hasn't already been transferred. Rugby SCC controls from north of Watford North Jn to north of Nuneaton with Bletchley and Northampton being black holes. Hmm, maybe Northampton has been resignalled/recontrolled already.

Northampton was still being done from Rugby PSB when I visited Rugby SCC last Septermber. Wasn't Bletchley due to go over to the SCC first?

Plans? Meh. I have some paid work to do on Northampton (the new one) so I assume it's imminent but Bletchley I haven't (same work on both).

Im fairly sure that the last of Rugby PSB (Northampton) was to move to Rugby SCC fairly soon - after all it is already Solid State Interlocking so the transfer would be fairly straight forward, with no changes on the ground other than the two letters on each signal identification plate. It is 1990s technology so is not obsolete and not worn out.

Bletchley is, I think, an old WestPac (1960s technology) with all old equipment on the ground, so will require total resignalling which is far more time consuming and far more costly.

In a way I am surprised either box has survived as long as it has due to both losing a large area of control to Rugby SCC.

I believe the reason Bletchley survives is that there is (needs to) be a significant remodelling to go with the resignalling and it's waiting for this to be done. I have an idea thre reason it hasn't happened yet is a dearth of resources (don't recall whether Civils, S&T or both).

Already discussed to a boring level of detail a number of times in the past. If you want to read all about it, you can use the search box at the top of the page.
