Would it be possible to have 1 topic with all the known bugs listed, and the work arounds for certain things in 1 place. People joining my timetable test seem to be having problems with things I know have already been reported, and I know work arounds have been issued for! Is the lack of a report when a train enters the sim at many locations known about, or do I need to try and make a list? God bless, Daniel Wilson Log in to reply |

Sometimes a list of know issues is added to a page in the Sim manual. That's something anyone can add if so minded. The lack of report point- what exactly do you mean as I thought any train entering any sim anywhere will generate a message. However, in certain locations you do get an enhanced message (e.g. phone call) if the developer has coded it. So can you give a for-instance? Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! This extract may help. ""Scunthorpe Panels As with Immingham, knowledge of the area is useful. Scunthorpe TC is Trent Yard; Scunthorpe FD is 'Freight Depot' ie the Up Goods yard (not Frodingham Depot); Scunthorpe BSC Entrance 'C' is at the Anchor sidings neck, signal S353; Scunthorpe Redbourne is within BSC works, access via N Lincs Sidings. Calls have to be made for trains going to Anchor Sidings, Trent Yard, BSC CHP and Scunthorpe Redbourne. Loaded coal trains from Immingham run-round at Scunthorpe Goods yard (FD) to run into the CHP, and the empties do the same in reverse."" Mike. Log in to reply |

On multiplayer, many entry points do not report. Ie a train entering at Clarborough Jn won't announce its entry, as won't Bessacarr Jn, West Holmes Jn and many others. Very annoying when your left to run 3 panels, and trains appear without warning!

That's something anyone can add if so minded. It already has been created (28 March), as part of the SH manual: http://www.SimSig.co.uk/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=usertrack:mans:shmanual:shissue What I meant was that we have a work around for various moves at Scunthorpe - too many people don't know what to do, and you can't find the topic quickly when you're on a game. I'm only posting what people were having trouble with on my games - please don't shoot me! It looks like I am going to have to re-write the notes for my 2010/11 timetable with the work arounds in, as too many people abandon timetable when they shouldn't, and muck up the rules in place! Either that, or I daren't release it until version 2 becomes available! Either that or scrap the whole thing as unworkable (which it seems to be at the moment)??? Really don't know what else to say, other than I'm trying to suggest a way of making it easy for us normals, but seem to be hitting a brick wall again. God bless, Daniel Wilson Log in to reply |

As the host, I was only getting about 25% of entering trains (some on my panels, some not on my panels). I can't give a full list at the moment, as whilst trying to keep up with 3 panels, edit the timetable I'm testing, do my best at sorting out Scunthorpe (see above point about having a list of known problems for quick reference), I didn't have much time left!

No one's trying to shoot anyone. You asked whether there was/could be a single list of known issues- I made a suggestion and Andy confirmed it was already in place. Whether it is comprehensive is another issue but that relies on someone to add to it- which I'm sure you are aware you can do. onlydjw said: That's unfortunate - I'd try and be patient- do what you can and release- or wait. onlydjw said:As the host, I was only getting about 25% of entering trains (some on my panels, some not on my panels).Ok, well the first thing to note is that hosts do not get entering train messages when those entry points are assigned to a client via workstation control. The relevant client should be getting them. That they're not in some cases suggests a data problem with allocating entry points to workstations, which is easy enough for Chris to fix (though a specific list is always helpful). Not quite what the original post suggested. SimSig Boss Log in to reply |

As a host, I have been getting entering reports for some locations on my panels, and some not on my panels, but not all locations on my panels (if that makes sense).

I don't add anything directly to the official information, as it will doubtless be wrong (see messages above for a classic example of being mis-understood), plus I can't do anything about fixing issues and reporting back, so I don't! I'm reporting what I'm seeing. I starting by asking about a single list which could be easily accessible quickly in games to help us all find ways around known problems which keep coming up. Whether this be a topic with links to the relevant posts, or a topic on its own I don't know, but we need something, otherwise we keep having to pause whilst the solution is found! Daniel, I would be grateful if you DID report issues on the wiki. Yes granted you can't fix them but you do have workarounds for some and if you know the workaround then you must at least know the problem and those should be one the wiki. If there are issues that you do not have a workaround for or not sure they are issues then you you more than welcome to e-mail me directly (as you have on several occasions) and I'd be happy to take a look. To be honest, I thought the Wiki was for admin people to compile from the reports/fixes etc on the forum, where we report them (either on the forum or directly). Have I got that wrong as well? God bless, Daniel Wilson Log in to reply |

Anyone can access the wiki and edit it. In fact everyone is encouraged to do so. Its a way for everyone to involved on SimSig even if you aren't involved in Sim development or testing. It should be treated as a resource by everyone, for everyone. If there's something missing then go ahead and add it. If there are inaccuracies, feel free to correct them. Your knowledge and experiences can then help others including me.
