Bit of a determined critter to burrow through ballast! As an aside, there used to be a Badger seen regularly on the ECML (it was the nickname for the solitary Class 89 loco).

Don't be too surprised - we had 14 ponys on the line between Thorne and Althorpe (between Doncaster and Scunthorpe) last Thursday - a train had hit 2 of them outright, and three more had to be put down by the RSPCA vet (after the farmer was prohibited from shooting them because they were on "public" land)!
