I asked AndyG about the scoring system within the sim, he says that this is up to the individual developer and each one can decide, but are there any general rules or principles followed for gaining and loosing points or is it completely random on each sim. I am curious about Edinburgh scoring as I am loosing "other points" and unsure as to what these are or how we have reached the score we have. Sorry if this has been asked previously. Thanks Blessed are the true believers, for only they shall walk the Path, and they shall be welcomed unto the realm of the Ori and made as one with Them. Log in to reply |

Everything except "other" is defined in core code and can't be changed by sim developers. The scoring of the other is decided by the sim developer, though we are trying to harmonise it a little between sims. Sometimes one developer's opinion of a major faux pas isn't the same as another's.

Most of the scoring is a core-code function but, speaking for myself, any bespoke scoring I may have added should be accompanied by a "violation" message- though it may not explicitly say a penalty will apply. Generally on EDB it's failures to make phone calls to yards that trip a penalty or calls to Longannet. Looking through I see there is one that has no message and that's 25 points for advising Longannet of a train for Alloa and then not sending one within 90 minutes and failing to advise Longannet . Geoff - Do we know what that scoring system is ? Is it in the wiki. I did search but could not find anything. Peter - Thanks for telling me that, I assumed those would be penalties. Geoff - Any chance of you putting the CORE Code Scoring system into the Wiki ?
