Hi all,

I am currently working on a TT edit for Exeter in relation to the closure of the Yeovil Junction - Honiton route that was in place 08th - 10th July inclusive. I would appreciate a few bits of info to help out.

1. I understand that mainly single units were used. At the moment, if I change "SWT Class 159 x2" to "SWT Class 159" I get a train length of 60m. I presume that means I now have two cars but I don't know for certain. Therefore, so that I can get the lengths right, what would be the length of a 2-car Class 159?

2. What is the maximum length of train that would fit into Platform 1 at Exeter Central?

someone feel free to correct me, but only the SWT 158s are 2 car, all the 159s are 3 car

2) 184m from NR data, 220m in SimSig.

Edit: now Central Stn, not St Davids.

I can only help one person a day. Today's not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look too good either.

Correct

SWT's 158s don't tend to run west of Salisbury though - i've only ever clocked them on London - Salisbury, Portsmouth - Southampton, Winchester - Totton and their regular grounds of Lymington and Romsey.

Class 158s are generally 2-car. The three-car units are: 158752-759 and 158798 (Northern Rail) and 158950-158959 (First Great Western). Both of these companies also operate 2-car units.

Class 159s are all 3-car, and all are operated by SWT.

i think youve confused what ive put (probably not very clearly) i meant the only two car 158/159s SWT operate are 158s. 158s are of course usually 2 car (i catch enough of them lol)

If you like 158s, Salisbury is the place to go
Saw one in platform 5 with 'Fort William' on destination board :blink:

Thanks for this. The confusion arises from postings in these threads: I don't know if you will be able to read them without logging in.

We can see from the above links that it seems a variety of rolling stock was seen. However, 15888 was reportedly one of the units that worked ECS from Salisbury: if that is a 2-car unit then I think I will use a single 159 - length 60m - as the vehicle for the Exeter - Honiton workings. However one option given for traction is "Class 150/158". Advice welcome.

Thanks for that. However if I change the train category from "Class 159x2" to simply "Class 159" it changes the length from 120m to 60m.

Lol. Sounds like it. Thanks for your help.

Finished this evening doing the TTs for the Exeter Central - Honiton workings so will commence with the Honiton - Exeter Central workings in a day or two. A TT test will follow when I think I have everything in working order.

As an aside, I spotted a clash of train numbers when I renumbered 5L18 to 5Z18 before realising that a train which enters Riverside Yard at 0301 already had the 5Z18 code. Because the Exeter - Honiton workings that ran during the Axminster flooding were all 1Zxxx it makes sense, I think, for the first SWT train out of New Yard to be 5Z18 so the 0301 Riverside Yard - New Yard train has been changed from 5Z18 to 5Z99.

Dave , you need to edit or add the Train Type in the timetable. You then allocate the type to the particular timetable for the train in question.

Dave , you need to edit or add the Train Type in the timetable. You then allocate the type to the particular timetable for the train in question.

Dave the "Class 159" is the train type for a 3 car. And the "Class 159x2" is a 6 car.

Apologies for another query: I am not used to doing TT edits!

Hoping that this isn't a silly question, seeing as I have trains terminating at Honiton, do I need to put the code in for the next train back to Exeter or, seeing as Honiton station is not shown on the sim, is this not necessary?

I think that will do for the queries now!

i would put a seperate service in which enters at honiton, then add a rule so it cannot enter til 5 mins after the previous service arrives.

OK time for a small update. Latest news as follows:

TT Name: WoE (Salisbury - Exeter) (Axminster Flooding), 09-Jul-2012

The timetable is an edit of the 2012 Air Show & Olympics TT. I ran an analysis of the TT using the tool provided. It cropped up with a couple of errors but I have mostly sorted those. The one error I have been unable to sort is in regards of the Honiton - Exeter Central trains - codes 1Z02/3/4/6/8-17, 1Z21, 2Z05 & 2Z07 - where I have put the departure time for the following train after arrival at Exeter Central. Analysis tool tells me this is not needed for these trains as they terminate. However the same thing is also the case with a number of other trains on the TT so I presume that all will be OK.

In addition the original 5Z18 (0301 Exeter RY - Exeter NY as seed for 5L18) is renumbered to 5Z99. I learned from another forum that all the 1Lxxx were run as 1Zxxx so I have changed 5L128 to 5Z18 in connection with this.

I may run a TT test later this evening. For anyone wondering, the departure and arrival times at Honiton and Exeter are as follows:



The departure and arrival times from Exeter Central and Honiton were taken from JourneyCheck but I am unsure of the timing of 1Z18. There are stops at the intermediate stations as well. However, when I asked SWT for help with sorting the times they said that the information I wanted was not available to the general public. A pity.

Rolling stock throughout comprises a 2-car Class 158 (46m length).

headcodes change all the time, but i thought 1z99 was light loco/breakdown/ snowplough mving to assist and 2z99 was not assisting.

I did look through the list of codes but there was no other 5Z99 in the list of trains.
