How about the Styal lines on the outskirts of Manchester? There would be a lot of traffic in and out of Manchester Airport which would make a nice single player sim. Ive made a mock up of how I would lay the area out with accurate signal representations. Looks good Sam. As with Lime Street, compact but with scope for injecting problems.
