Yes, some of us use Skype, others use teamspeak, some use both (not usually at the same time!) and some use neither!

I used to use Skype but as the numbers grew we moved over to Teamspeak. Details of which can be found in the post here.

The audio quality on Skype when you have more than a couple of people in there leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion - even MSN is better! There is a fairly active community on the TeamSpeak server, which Karl (headshot119) and Alan (agilchrist) run, even when there are no SimSig games being hosted, and we often play other games as well - OpenTTD Luukland and Company of Heroes being the most common at present. We run a smallish group (now totally 9 regulars) on a Tuesday night (AEST) & we found that appart from chewing up great chunks of bandwidth the audio quality on skype was very lacking when you had more than 3 people on the 1 call. The other benefit of teamspeak is as long as everyone has the ip address & password if needed they can come & go as they want. There is no need to establish conference calls etc. Anyone can run a ts server as long as they have the server software. I intend to live forever. So far so good Log in to reply |
