perhaps less of a request, more of a question some UWCs/keeper worked crossings will have a completely random pattern of usage which is reflected in SimSig currently. however certain locations have a typical pattern of usage in addition to this. an example from experience is tyna-morfa crossing between talacre and prestatyn (supervised by talacre, worked by a keeper). this provides access to a residential house, and to a farm. having spoken to the crossing keeper and observed comings and goings, it was evident that on weekdays, the owners of the home left the house between 8 and 8:20 using the crossing, and returned at around 17:30 using the crossing again. thusly the keeper, and talacre signalman are always expecting a call. this wouldnt currently be replicated in SimSig, but is it possible to input a system whereby certain crossings would be programmed to have usage at a particular time? on a side note, could the F11 have a function to increase/decrease crossing frequency (imagine for instance of a festival was on nearby- it might be used very frequently, whereas another nearby crossing may see noone. hopefully that all made sense joe "We don't stop camborne wednesdays" Log in to reply |

Good idea. Similarly, is it possible for a developer to programme the chances of a crossing being used? For instance, I know of User Worked Crossings that are used many times a day, and others that are lucky if they are used once a year. Log in to reply |

Individual crossings have an average time between calls setting, it used to be possible to set a frequency at sim launch (Edinburgh has it) normally as a global frequency but it could be tailored to an individual crossing I guess. However, the core-code changed and I've not looked into how to add that feature back. I have suggested that overnight the frequency should be less than during the day- this question seems a more exacting version of that. I believe it's rather complicated to do and is not at this time being taken forward but is in the "one-day" tray. Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Log in to reply |

It's possible to set the rate of use of a crossing, but only as part of setting up a scenario. Peter, I couldn't find your previous request. I've put the whole of this thread into our tracking system - Mantis 7585. That doesn't mean it will happen, just that you don't have to remind us. Log in to reply |
