Guys, great photos keep them coming! At the risk of being shot down/unpopular, I have one question - is there any particular reason they are being uploaded as attatchments to the forum rather than to a private, linked to flickr account or similar? There must be 100s of photos in this thread already, which given the pageviews is gonna be destroying the bandwidth that the powers that be pay for out of their own pocket... " said:Keith like the pictures of Cricklewood Junction box, IIRC I remember seeing 2 signalmen working the frame in that box & I suspect there was a box boy also. Not sure whether there was a regulator in that box. I know St. Pancras & Bedford North signal boxes had regulators in them. I've got a set of the signaling diagrams that were issued to the traincrew when West Hampstead was commissioned including one of Cricklewood depot box. Brings back memories, especially the word 'the linger' referring to the line between Cricklewood Recess Sdgs & the Up/Down Hendon Line. Keep them coming. Yes, a double-manned box with booking boy early & late turns only, but no regulator in Cricklewood - Pancras & Bedford divvied up the section between them. Log in to reply |

" said:Guys, great photos keep them coming! In answer to your question regarding bandwith James I'm not sure about that, unless a moderator can answer that. In answer to do I want to upload my photos to flickr the answer to that is no. I have uploaded some of my pictures to a BR group on facebook, but I don't tend to use facebook as I don't like it. I spend most of my time on here & I thought SimSig should have its own photo gallery. If there is somewhere else on SimSig where these photos could be looked at by members of SimSig then I would be happy to post them there. Log in to reply |

20085+20040+20097 at Toton TMD on 150587. Cl.20 had quite a number of nicknames. The cranks called them 'whistling wardrobes'. March drivers called them 'ducks' & Leicester men called them 'crop sprayers'. All locos & even some units had nicknames including DVTs. Post has attachments. Log in to view them. Log in to reply |

58049 'Littleton Colliery' at Worksop Down yard on 051096. One of my favorite locos. Due to it being named 'Littleton Colliery' which was the colliery Bedford ASLEF & NUR supported during the miners strike in 1984. Also this was one of the last Cl.58s I went on during my time on the footplate. Ironically the last Cl.58 I needed for haulage was 58050 & I managged to get a ride on her when she was at Bescot TMD one day working the Wolverhampton - Hoo Junction steel train. I was early shift at Bescot & when the driver booked on duty I went with him up to the depot & rode on the loco off the depot round the yard until she was coupled to her train. It had to be done as the Cl.58s didn't have long in 2004 before they were withdrawn from service. For me the railway wasn't the same anymore once the Cl.58s had finished service. The best british built type 5 ever. Post has attachments. Log in to view them. Log in to reply |
