In the UK these panels were supplied by Metropolitan Vickers-GRS. The UK versions didn't have the red lights beneath the points indicator - they were wired so the indicator moved to the middle position while the points were out of correspondence and only moved to a 'set' position when detection was obtained. I believe the red lights system was used in the Netherlands (it may have been in the US as well). The arrows in the switch were different in UK practice and there were some differences in operation too. There were large installations of this kind of panel at Stratford, Bow Junction and Mile End (East London), several on the Scottish and Southern regions and one of the last was at Barking (again in East London).

I agree with Mark that pictures should really be posted only with permission or (with due credit) under a creative commons licence, so I've removed the attachments from my post... uses less resources too.

With that he opened the power handle to full power on 58007 & we were off, we crossed Bedford South Jn from Slow Line to Fast Line, by the time we were approaching Millbrook we were doing 100mph. Pete said to me if you hear bits falling off you know Cl.58s can't do 100mph as there max speed was only 80mph. Anyhow to cut a lonfg story short Bedford to Radlett Junction was done in about 19 minutes. The HST we were put in front passed us on the Up Fast as we were heading back north dragging the failed train on the Down Slow at Radlett Redlands Terminal.
Yey, always great when we help each other out! Round of applause from a West Hampstead signaller!

Now I've had all the 50+ packs of negatives scanned from the mid to late 1980s I thought I'd upload some more photos. These 2 photos show 6R43 1310 TThO COY Kilnhurst West YTD - Ripple Lane West RS firstly entering Whitemoor Yard & the secod showing the train departing Whitemoor Yard. The train on this day was worked by a Cl.47/3 number 47346. However this was the only time I saw this train worked by a Cl.47, the usual motive power would be a Cl.37/7. I don't have the exact date to hand, but its during the summer of 1987. Photos taken from the bridge on Norwood Road in March. I'm sure the view today is some what different.

This photo shows 9S93 1800 SX COY Wisbech East - Deanside CPA coming off the Wisbech branch passing the Whitemoor Junction signalbox during the summer of 1987. I don't have the loco number to hand, but it is a Tinsley Cl.47/0 off the Speedlink pool which was the booked power for this train. The train ran round towards March station before setting back into the yard where the brake van on the rear was detached & the train went forward at 1903 as 6S93. The train conveyed petfoods for Spillers.

I thought I'd upload this photo. Taken during the summer of 1987 shows 31130 on the OLE train working around Peterborough station. For those eagle eyed viewers can you see the Network South East liveried Cl.50 in the background near the servicing shed. The loco was on a test run from Doncaster Works. Never did find out what the loco number was, so if anyone out there knows please let me know.

Network South East liveried 47582 'County of Norfolk' enters Whitemoor Yard with 6H76 1010 SX Dept'l Cambridge TC - Whitemoor Yard. The empty MGR wagons behind the loco are cripple wagons off the King's Lynn - Foxton MGR circuit which have been been returned to traffic after repairs have been carried out. This picture was taken during the summer of 1987.

This photo shows 37008 departing Whitemoor Yard past March Whitemoor Junc. signal box with 6Y97 0625 SX SLK Whitemoor Yard - Bury St. Edmunds. Little did I know when I took this picture that a few years later I'd be the last person on BR to allocate this o work a train as it was detroed in a collision with an empty freightliner 5 set at Seabrook Sdgs whilst working 4S83 Tilbury RCT - Coatbridge FLT with 37225. 37008 was the leading loco & the freightliner set which didn't have any tail lamps on them were left on a running line by the shunters. The Stratford driver working the train would have been killed if it wasn't the fact that the Cl.37 had a nose on it which saved him. This loco was removed to Stratford TMD where the fuel tanks were removed(resulting in the loco being out of guage) & was eventually dragged to tinsley for scrapping.

The photos above show March East signal box exterior & interior. The first picture was taken during 1987 & the other 3 were taken when I worked in the TOPS office at Whitemoor Yard & went to the box to take some photos inside during 1988.

One late turn shift during the summer of 1988 when I was working in the Whitemoor yard TOPS office I climbed up one of the yard light towers & yook these photos showing the departure roads where trains arrived & departed, also looking towards Spalding where they'ed started building Whitemoor Prison, which before that was a mass of sidings(after WW2 Whitemoor Marshalling Yard was the largest in the world). There's a photo taken looking towards March TMD, another photo over looking where the M&GN Joint line ran & the last picture is one taken looking at the old Telegraph Office at Whitemoor.

The first photo shows something you don't expect to see every day when you are out photographing trains. I remember this quite vividly. One day in the summer of 1987 standing on Norwood Road bridge the signals pulled off & to my surprise 31411 leading with another Cl.31/1 appeared from March station dragging 3 withdrawn Cl.03 shunters from King's :ynn to Whitemoor yard. Can't remember the numbers of the Cl.03s unfortunately. these shunters used to work in & around king's lynn & also tripped to the docks at King's Lynn. A classic case of being in the right place at the right time.
the second photo shows the three Cl.03s dumped on one of the C&W roads in Whitemoor Yard in 1988. I used to drive past them every day when I went to & from work & took this photo of them. I've got a feeling some of them got preserved & restored.

The first photo shows 0S96 LD to work 6S96 from Whitemoor Yard. 37069 'Thornaby TMD' has come off March TMD around 1730 to head into Whitemoor departures to attach to its train. If you look on the side of this engine you will see a white Kingfisher decal which was the logo for Thornaby TMD. Alot of locos at this time had various emblems on them.
Rabbit - Toton TMD, March Hare - March TND, Kingsisher - Thornaby TMD, Sparrow - Stratford TMD, Snail - Tinsley TMD, Scottie Dog - Eastfield TMD,Salmon - Glasgow Shields Road TMD to name but a few.

The second photo shows 37069 'Thornaby TMD' departing Whitemoor Yard with an extremely lightly ;paded 6S96 1310 SX SLK Parkeston Quay - Mossend suring the summer of 1987. The first 2 PVAs behind the loco came from Cambells Soup factory at King's Lynn & were destined for Law Jn. This was the first of the evening Soeedlink trunk service departures. The booked traction for this train was usually a Cl.47 with a length of 70SLUs(448m) in tow, usually with loaded cartics of imported cars destined for Doncaster for onwards movement to Wakefield. The traling tonnage for a Cl.37 on this service was 850 tonnes trailing. The loco would work through to Tyne Yard where there would be another loco change there.

Here's a photo showing a Cl.37/0(don't have the loco number to hand) working 6M73 1230 SX SLK Tees NY - Willesden Brent Sdgs passing Tempsford Crossing on the ECML. The train is unusually travelling on the Up Fast line on an afternoon in the summer 1987.

The first photo shows 0E16 LD coming off March TMD. This loco works 6E16 forward to Tees Yard. Note the Stratford sparrow decal on the loco side.
The second photo shows the same loco departing Whitemoor Yard, passing March Whitemoor Junction signal box & takes the Peterborough line which forms the northern side of the triangle & joins the main line at March West Junction. this train is 6E16 1340 SX SLK Duxford - Tees Yard. The majority of the wagons on this service are empty ICI wagons returning to Tees after being discharged at Ciba Geigy's plant at Duxford. Some of the wagons are discharged PAA wagons which convey Urea pellets whicj originate at ICI Billingham. This train was usually worked by a Cl.37/0 throughout.

The first photo taken during the summer of 1988 shows 37100+20171+another Cl.20 stabled on the loco Holding Sdgs. March TMD was easy for enthusiasts to get the numbers of locos on hand there as there were no fences or walls. In fact looking at the back of the engines you will see a public road called Hundred drove. There were no buffer stops at the end of the 4 track holding sdgs only raised metal blocks which you maybe able to see.
The second photo is taken from Hundred drove looking towards March TMD. The repair shed was double ended with 3 tracks in either end which could hold 2 locos on each line. The building to the right behind 56088 is a 2 track fuel point with pits where the underneath of locos were examined. The building to the right of where the Cl.08 is was a building containing machinery which pumped water around the facility. this photo was taken during the summer of 1987.
