I have recently installed the new Windows 8 to my laptop (originally Windows 7) and I am happy to report that at present I have not experienced any issues with the environment and SimSig. That is not to say that all my computer programs have taken a liking to Windows 8. Certain non-SimSig programs have baulked at Windows 8, but these have been graphics-related and easily rectified with an update of the graphics card

I have had no problems since upgrading to Win 8 either. Could it be a display driver issue with your GFX card ?

Most commonly the lowercase "a" letter for tracks? " said: Further to the above I dfind that I have no less that 5 SimSig fonts installed. That's normal - you actually have two font files, but each contains more than one font. As the names imply, there are two versions, though the RT version is not used. The "small" is the one used on the overviews. I don't have Windows 8 so this is likely to be wrong: Click Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Character Map and then scroll through the fonts to see if any SimSig ones are listed there. If so, and when you select a SimSig font, does the large view area show symbols, mostly in the middle section (character code 0x5B to 0xA7 and beyond)?" said:Yes, that is it exactly.i am afraid that i have problems with my new acer laptop running Windows 8. t doesn't seem to be able to find thsinmsig font file and is displaying a load of garbage instead.By "garbage" do you mean letters on the screen instead of symbols? Most commonly the lowercase "a" letter for tracks WinKey + R -> charmap -> [enter] You can also check your fonts settings. Navigate to "C:\Windows\Fonts\": Make sure the highlighted fonts are not grayed out. If they are, "unhide" them. Or you can go into "Fonts Settings" on the left navigation panel, then uncheck "Hide fonts according to language settings". This is taken on Release Preview as I don't have time to download RTM, but I wouldn't assume much differences. Sorry for all the Chinese. Post has attachments. Log in to view them. Log in to reply |
