i am testing underwoods 1981 tt and i have a loco running round its train in P3. Lj260 will not call the loco onto its train using both possible routes.

According to the manual, platforms 3 and 4 are not permissive.

this will cause some interesting problems with pre resignalling layouts...

of course it isnt a bug then, but an era issue.

Is it possible to put the train in P1? P1 is permissive, although only in the Up direction.

Note as well, Platform 1 is permissive in the UP direction only.

Also note, just because permissive working isn't allowed, doesn't mean the route doesn't exist - Kensington Olympia, Heathrow Central and Reading all Demonstrate this in some form or other, and I'm sure many other examples are out there!

What might be better is to put the routes in the sim where they exist, and apply a score penalty if the 'banned' ones are used. The penalty can then be era-specific.

EDIT: All 4 platforms have TC Override buttons on the panel, I presume pulling these will allow any signal set into any platform to clear, the Permissive just being outlawed by local instructions.

Further to JamesN's post, I think it's worth highlighting the difference between a running move into a permissively worked platform (such as a train arriving from Holyhead or Llandudno, for which the sub on LJ70 or LJ74 would be cleared) and a shunting movement into an occupied platform (such as the loco running round, coming back from LJ260 onto its train). GSR 10.3 shows that the latter would be acceptable whether permissive working was allowed or not, and as such I'd be surprised if there wasn't the facility to set the route from LJ270 into any occupied platform:

Quote:
10.3 Movements to running lines already occupied

You must not allow a train to enter an occupied portion of line between two signals worked from the same signal box unless one of the following applies.

• Permissive working is authorised for the type of train concerned.
• A shunting movement is to take place under the authority of a position-light or shunting signal.
• A movement is to enter a line that is obstructed by an accident, failure, obstruction or engineering work.

Shunt signals clearing into occupied lines which are not permissive from main signals is fairly common. Leamington middle roads are not permissive from any main signal, but the GPL signals will all clear into them if they are occupied.

The track circuit override buttons are present on the panel, but it will be difficult to tell exactly which routes they apply to just by looking at the panel. Some panels require them only for call-on routes from main aspect signals, whilst some require them from shunts as well. It is also possible that it only applies to some routes as well, and there is no way from looking at the panel alone that you can tell which ones.
