Hey, I am new to SimSig. I am getting use to play SimSig for simple route softwares like Drain, Wembley Sub.... But I want to also try out other softwares in larger scale generally divided in several panels. Is it somehow possible to contol a single panel on single player mode for the software which has several panels? Log in to reply |

I tend to only control the station in Peterborough. ARS can then be left to (mostly) control the rest of the sim.

Hi ghlbit! Welcome to Simsig. Some sims have ARS (Automatic Route Setting) which can control parts of the sim for you. ARS doesn't run a whole panel, it's divided into several small areas each controlling part of a junction or perhaps a station area, and you can switch each area on and off automatic control as you decide which bits you want to operate yourself. ARS areas still need half an eye keeping on them as they're not infallible! Peterborough is a medium-sized sim with ARS which you might want to try next. There's also a bit of information on the wiki page for ARS. Alternatively keep an eye on the Session Details section of the forum, especially during the evenings (UK time), to see when someone's hosting a multiplayer session - new players are always welcome and you'll be able to take control of a single panel while learning about how everything works from others. Edit: beaten to it by Tom. Great minds! Last edited: 24/11/2012 at 12:38 by Josie Log in to reply The following user said thank you: ghlbit |

REPLY TO TomOF: So It is not possible somehow to enable or disable certain panels on the software? If so all most every software out at the momment are designed for muti player enviroment more or less since I thaught it is too large scaled to controll every single signal on the large route software. Thanks Tom and Josie, I will go read about ARS on wiki page you wrote. :) I was thinking to observe todays evening muti play session for Saltley software. I will go read more aobut muti play game rules and guidelines soon after finishing reading aobut ARS. Though to join muti player session do I need to be listed for the session somehow? Or I could join the session whenever it is open? Log in to reply |

Hi Ghlbit Also some of the later released sims (the last 18mths or so if my memory is right) have an option in the F3 menu within the sim to reduce the speed of the sim from 1:1 to 1:2. so although you would still be controlling more than one panel, with the slower speed you may find this also suitable for yourself. Hey Gareth, I wanted to have a control on a single panel because I wanted to be more familier with track layout of the region on each single section of the region it is daunting to go between several pages of panels not knowing whole track layout by hearts. Also I am not familer with the UK rail network in general. But it is good suggestion. I will slow down the speed of simulation and see how it goes. Thanks Log in to reply |

To join a multiplayer session select "network play" and enter the port number 505.. and the IP address for my session. Some sessions require a web address rather than an IP. Teamspeak 3 is also very useful for voice communication which is a lot easier than typing in the message box.
