License Manager saying license allocated to another machine 09/12/2012 at 07:58 #38961 | |

I bought a new Windows 8 Laptop last week. On Friday (2 days ago) I purchased and installed all four of the new paid simulations and assigned all of them to this new laptop. However, today when tried to access NE Scot came up with error message saying "no license or simulation expired." I clicked to bring up license manager and it states that all four of the licenses are allocated to another computer, however I have only installed them on the this one computer. The only thing that has changed with the laptop is that there was an issue where the Intel Smart Response Technology wouldn't boot correctly, so we disabled this, rebooted, and have enabled it again. It is the tech that uses an SSD to cache the main hard drive and allows system updates while sleeping. Any suggestions on restoring the licences? Log in to reply |

In the license manager, select the license in question (if need be, do this for all of them) and Request License Unlock from the top of the screen. This will notify Geoff and/or the admins for this area. I can't say how long this will take, as it all depends on workloads and how availible they are. Hope this helps. Log in to reply |

I have the same problem. I'm using the same computer I loaded the sims onto so I don't understand why Licence Manager thinks it's another machine. Anyway, sent the Unlock machine request.

I've just had to change my all in one which was faulty and gone back to a desk top so I've clicked the unlock buttons for all 4 sims so I can use them on the new machine

I have the same problem with the Central Scotland Sim. Also, I have 2 computers, does this mean I can't play the sim on my other computer? After having another look, it seems that I would have to release the licence from one comp and install it on the other comp and keep doing this every time I use another comp. Can this be done?

I can't remember how many machines you can allocate a license to at the same time. Maybe worth looking in the wiki or in the paid sim section on the forum

Just want to say thanks to the team for resetting my licenses. I decommissioned my work laptop ready for return and simply uninstalled the License Manager without first removing or transferring the installed licenses from that machine {SORRY!!}. All sorted now and working on the new Windows 8 thingy I have. Thanks again for your prompt action.
