Can someone here clarify which of the message type categories has been used for the train-approaching-LC messages that appear in the latest sims (particularly, Carlisle (Floriston LC) and Llangollen (Glyndyrfyrdwy))? I'm trying to configure appropriate sounds for these on my machine. I've noticed that, in Gloucester, the 'Train approaching Old Ends' message seemed to be in the same category as TRTS messages, and plays the 'dong' sound I already had set up for these. But in the above two sims, I don't get a sound played. On my machine, the messages appear in white. The only message types I have got configured in this colour (in the F3 Messages tab) are: General telephone message * Train ready in siding * Warning of delayed train entering area Train finished dividing * Train finished joining * Multiplayer message and I already have sounds configured for the ones listed with stars above. That certainly doesn't seem to be the case for Llangollen, I just tried that and it made no difference. But I have that category coloured in cyan anyway, not white.

Just have checked with what I have on my versions of the sims for the question in hand.... Gloucester: TRTS message for Old Ends. Carlisle: Level Crossing Clear for Floriston. Llangollen: Level Crossing Clear. The newer version of the simulations (over the last 2 years have had the Level Crossing Clear option). Hope this helps. Log in to reply |

I'm referring to the 'train approaching...' messages, not '... barriers are down'. The latter is indeed in the Level Crossing Clear category, which I have got configured in green and with a different sound. This works on all the sims. But the train approaching messages must be in a different category because they don't appear in green or play the sounds I've configured for Level Crossing Clear.

Carlisle is from the General Simulation message. Got the wrong end of the stick (again) :pinch: Log in to reply |

I think these are bespoke to the Sim so which message type is allocated is decided by the developer. Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Log in to reply |
