Hi all

Just want to say Come on Bradford City. 90 mins away from Wembley

Even though I prefer rugby league i do live near Bradford Citys ground and have been overjoyed by their Cup run this season.

Beating Wigan, Arsenal and 3-1 up on Aston Villa, another Premier league team.

I have not been to a Bradford City match since that dreadful day in May 1985 when 56 people died in that awful fire.

It will be nice to see a lower league football team in a cup final instead of your usual Man Utds, Chelski and Liverpools

Ah! Fond memories of Valley Parade, seem to remember when there wasn't much going on of the football kind, which was quite frequent, it had an excellent view, down the bank and across Midland Road onto the sheds located on the line into and out of Forster Square. Brit's, Black 5's them were the days.

You can't beat a bit of Bullie though Seem to think they have been to Wembley more times than City

First team: tackle - tackle - tackle - tackle - tackle - kick
Second team: tackle - tackle - tackle - tackle - tackle - kick

Repeat until fight breaks out.

That's an exciting game, isn't it.

Bradford deserved their win last night no doubt about it . I think it will be a tougher game at Villa Park in the second leg but it would be great to see a League Two team in the Capital One Cup Final

A bit more exciting than sitting all day watching thirteen grown men, all listening to the sound of leather on willow that used to go on at Park Avenue (and I'm talking about Brits and Black 5's being more exciting). To tell you the truth it's probably watching Bradford City that made me start sitting on platform ends with me Ian Allan.

When I was a kid I used to be a football fan (Leyton Orient) and an ice hockey fan (now-defunct Manchester Storm). Lost interest in both of them as time went on, though I'm not sure it's necessarily fair to say I grew out of it ;)

Thinking about it, of the two teams I supported, one was dreadful and the other went bust. Wonder what that says about where I place my support...

Though this thread has sparked a memory I'd completely forgotten - going to a match on a footex from Manchester as a Leyton Orient fan, on a train full of fans of some northern team for whom the train was chartered - we had a compartment to ourselves!

Nearest I've ever been to a football match is the front carriage of a footex.

Peter, You have me beaten. AFAIK, I haven't even ridden in a FootEx! Nor would I want to.

But is was 37157 xo ED (21 May 1983, 1Z69/1Z66 Aberdeen to Kings Park (return) via Hamilton) and from memory someone with a carriage key locked the door to keep the hooligans at bay - actually that reminds me we used to call them HoolExs.

I'm only 10 minutes from Wembley via the North Circular on a good day

I echo your sentiments though.

Last time Bradford City won a major English Cup was 1911 in the FA Cup final against Newcastle Utd - thats when Crystal Palace was the venue for the final (the replay was at Old Trafford)

The current design of the FA cup was designed and manufactured by Fattorini's of Bradford in 1911 and won by Bradford City in the same year. This trophy still exists but is now too fragile to be used, so an exact replica was made by Toye, Kenning and Spencer and has been in use since the 1992 final.

After Swansea beat Chelski in the first leg it could now be possible for a Bradford City verses Swansea final - now how many people predicted that at the start of the season.

If Chelski does reach the final with Bradford City then to be honest we might lose big time but at least we would enjoy the experience. But we did beat Arsenal so we could have a chance.

Likewise. But even though I don't know one end of a football from t'other, I have to admit Spurs were the source of a useful bit of Saturday overtime when I was a station manager. Fortunately(!!??) they weren't doing too well at the time so the crowds were sensibly small & well-behaved.

There used to be loads of overnight RugEx's to Edinburgh too, mainly from [different parts of] Wales I recall, for the International (proper Rugby) season.

According to BBC Sport and local paper the only way Bradford would play in europe is if they win the League Cup.

It would be nice if we can play in Europe.

We did it. Bradford City beat Aston Villa on aggregate and are now play at Wembley in the Final.

We have beaten 3 premier league teams this season - thats more than QPR who are in the premier league. Lol

OK, I hold my hand up and say I never thought it possible but it is a great achievement. Well done.....but hold on there where did the WE bit come into it....I thought you said you were a Rugby League supporter and had not been to Valley Parade in some 20 odd years. With an average gate of less than ten thousand there should be a few tickets to spare from their allocation for the final.

At least there won't be competition for the tickets from all of the plastic supporters who never miss a match (as long as it's on Sky)!
