I refer to the 1985 PAID T/T operating in the perfect mode.

The "Airport Tripwire Alarm" operated at 07.48, the line was closed in both directions and I had 12 trains queued back across the Forth Bridge and to Inverkeithing. I think at least one hour passed and things were getting silly so I aborted the game and went back to prior to 07.48 and restarted but the "Alarm" has gone off again at 07.48.

Although the Manual makes reference to the "Airport Tripwire" as a Heading there is no explanation as to how it operates

Before wasting more time on a game which will become unplayable due to the number of queueing trains can someone tell me please whether a Technician will eventually reset the Alarm or is there a procedure to reset the "Alarm".

I assume this same point can also relate to "Winchburgh Tunnel Alarm".

Answer Please!

There is no set procedure to reset - you will be updated accordingly by the engineers via telephone. Such is life with the scenarion im afraid

Are you 100% positive you were operating in "perfect mode"? I'm not aware of anyone else having found them in "perfect" (or beginner for that matter) and there's nothing in the data that should cause that to happen.

During this hour did you receive any messages regarding updates?

Note that in each and every scenario there is an alternative route you can use (bit fiddly reversing at Winchburgh/Dalmeny) but it can be done.

I can add something to the WIKI to explain how it works, originally it was inserted as a "surprise" and there was no mention in the manual. As I think they've all been found I can add.

However, as Mfloyd says regarding the event "that's life".

The airport tripwires I've seen will actually drop the tracks if triggered because the track relay is tied in with the tripwire relay. If an emergency landing takes place the air traffic controller is given a phone to talk to the signaller and will let him/her know the line could become blocked, and then give another phonecall when the danger has passed.

If it where to be triggered by a low flying aircraft then the tripwire would need to be rebuilt. Along with the track probably...

I experienced the 'Airport Tripwire' activation last night whilst playing in standard mode.

The alarm activated at 10:58.
At 11:23 I got an 'update' that said 'staff on site assessing tripwire'.
Around 12:00 the line re-opened with a 15mph ESR along the whole length of the tripwire and at around 12:45 it said normal working resumed.

Due to a nasty TCF at Newbridge Jn I was also unable to divert anything via the Dalmeny curve! Hopefully that gives a vague idea of the timescale but I assume it may vary depending on the scenario.

I pity the p-way workers if it's caused by a falling lump of Blue Ice.
