I've been playing Southampton and I noticed that trains from Northam depot never seem to depart from the reversing signal at the run round line on time, any ideas as to why this is?

There isn't a rule governing trains off the depot as far as I can see

Interesting! A test with the TT having 00:00 minutes for turnaround times delays the train 8 minutes. (no failures or delays)

Currently have a saved game of the same timetable waiting to be played further when time permits, and have previously noticed this issue too - there doesn't appear to be any rules causing it. Even tinkering with the timetables and using near end/near end exact or far end/far end exact stops doesn't do anything.

Perhaps the developer forgot to cleanse the simulation before release; or ran it during development then saved their progress after encountering delays? :silly:

There are minimum tines for a train to reverse direction, related to the length of the train, for the driver to move to the opposite end. I think it's 2 mins for a light loco, and significantly more for longer train, and reflects the real time allowances for reversals.

The area where SimSig is not realistic is with freight trains, where the reversal time based on the length of the train is much longer than the reality of a driver switching ends in the loco (if at all), to propel in/out of sidings (eg causes delays at Kingsbury Shunt Frame on Saltley).

Not 100% sure, but think that the turn times don't apply to a stop with a new next working with reversal.

I can only help one person a day. Today's not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look too good either.

As someone who's experienced this problem too, it seems to affect only the SX09 timetable, not the default (been a while since I've played it, might be wrong).

No matter how early or late you send 'em in, it's about 2 minutes late departing the run-around road, both in and out, and I remember it being consistent enough to plan your moves around that timetable +2 mins margin. Alternatively, it's possible to just watch the train list and not give it the road until it reports ready.

If it's exactly two minutes late every time, it may be a separate bug- I think there is/was a similar one Bristol that affects trains reversing in certain platforms at Temple Meads.

Newer sims, currently in testing, have the ability to specify a turnaround time to override the defaults, along with a few other parameters.
