I was just wondering if this was a bug. I cant find anything about it on the forums. I had 4L81 running 16 minutes late so I decided to let 4M48 out of Eden Vale loop early as it was the same class to keep that train on time. When 4M45 was leaving Eden Vale 4L81 was approaching Carlisle station. As you can see by the screenshot by the time they arrive at Tebay the trains at right behind each other with 4M48 only .going 30mph. When it has been in section for a while it drops down to 15mph and it just re[eats this pattern time after time. Any suggestions. Thanks Post has attachments. Log in to view them. Log in to reply |

Have you had a look at the Known Bugs in the manual on the wiki? Also, you may want to read from Post #4 and onwards in this thread too. I did read these topics, I just didnt realise that two trains of the same class can be so different in the way it can cope with gradients on the map

" said:I did read these topics, I just didnt realise that two trains of the same class can be so different in the way it can cope with gradients on the mapThis has more the look of a bug than the effect of gradients as the climb from Eden Vale to Shap is significantly less steep than the climb in the opposite direction. Did you by any chance give 4M48 the road then tell it to shunt forward to get it moving? If you get something to shunt forward it sometimes sits at 15mph or less for the rest of its journey. I think I've managed to cure that before by abandoning then reinstating the TT but couldn't swear to it. Any chance you can add a saved game from before 4M48 leaves Eden Vale to see if anyone else can replicate and then identify the cause of the problem. “In life, there is always someone out there, who won’t like you, for whatever reason, don’t let the insecurities in their lives affect yours.” – Rashida Rowe Log in to reply |

I did shunt it forward and that may be the reason behind it. I think I still have the saved game. Ill try and upload it

Not surprised that you tried to shunt 4M48 forward - as covered in this thread it doesn't fit in Eden Vale UGL (as I've only just (re-)found out, with 1M92 not far behind, whilst trying to test this (with a deliberately added 16 minute delay to 4L81)).

I found your post very interesting as I encountered the same thing in the Westbury Sim. A class 6 came out of Somers Siding and proceeded towards Castle Cary at 30 mph instead of 60 mph. BeFore it got to Castle Cary it slowed down to 15 mph then accelerated up to it,s correct speed of 60mph. I assumed it was a bug in the Sim.

In all recent sims, a train passing a shunt aspect is limited to 30 mph until it gets within 500 metres of the next signal, when it will brake to 15 mph. This is our best attempt to simulate the rule book on passing such an aspect. The "Shunt forward" command has the same effect. The former is cancelled when the train passes an aspect better than shunt. The latter is cancelled when the train comes to a stop. This might be the wrong thing to do, thinking about it.
