As noted on the front page news, we're happy to announce that we will be releasing one brand new simulation and at least one re-released simulation just prior to the meet. Both will be full versions and available in the days before the meet for all to download. The new simulation will be payware; the re-release(s) donationware.

To tie in with the new simulation, on the Sunday morning after the meet there will be an event organised at a location within London. This will include a signalbox visit and one - hopefully two - other exciting visits, but all in the same area. Being a working railway, we can't spend all day there, but we're hoping for around 15-20 minutes per visit.

This is likely to be a popular event - even though I haven't been specific about where or what yet! Numbers are also limited so we are organising a queuing system which includes a randomness for fairness, based on the lottery drawings. If any of you remember the Millie Fundraiser, it'll be a bit like that. First priority will be given to those attending the meet on the Saturday and who have paid in advance. This, on its own, may well exceed the maximum numbers for the Sunday, in which case we'll have to resort to the lottery drawings. If the numbers aren't exceeded then we draw from other categories of attendees and non-attendees (to be confirmed later). To ensure that all the places are used, we will collect a small deposit which will be refunded in full at the visit on Sunday - if you turn up; no refund if you don't turn up.

More details in the coming days.

So, if you want to attend on the Sunday, I suggest you sign up and pay in advance for the meet to give you the best chance of going to Sunday's event!

Excellent news. As some of you may know, I'm now a Trainee at Whiskey Hotel, or West Hampstead. So, I have been sitting in the box for the week and have been really interested by what I've been saying.

Anyway, I shall look at options for payment!

in the interests of budgeting, any indication as to what the payware price will be?

Firstly, there is now a sign-up for the technical visit on the Sunday after the meet. As I said before, there is a priority system for those attending the meet and paying in advance, and a lottery if oversubscribed. If you're interested in attending, sign up now for a slightly better chance of getting a place. There will be a signalbox involved - not a small semaphore box but one which controls a London terminus. It all ties in with the new release!

Secondly, on the subject of the new release, this will be unveiled and available to purchase several days before the meet. We will also be playing this at the meet but of course not everybody will want to buy it, or buy it in those first few days. To show our appreciation for those bringing laptops for all to use, we are offering six licenses for free on a first-come, first-served basis (no expiry, the license is yours). Bring your laptop for use in the multiplayer games by 12noon on the Saturday and you'll either get a free license there and then, or we'll refund the cost of the license if you've already purchased one - but only to the first six people through the door who share their laptop. No internet connection will be required initially but you will need to sign in within a few days of the event to activate the full license.

I'm beginning to have a slight suspicion which simulation that might be, though I wouldn't mind being proven wrong, either...

Two million people attempt to use Birmingham's magnificent rail network every year, with just over a million of them managing to get further than Smethwick.

So do I. It won't be KX, Waterloo, Euston or Liverpool Street as we already have those, it won't be Marylebone IECC as that is on the "can't be done" list so that only leaves Paddington.

Paddington is Slough IECC which is on that list.

Blackfriars, Charing X, Cannon St are not boxes. You probably meant to include London Bridge and West Hampstead.

Upminster IECC is the other Terminal one (on the list). Have we covered them all now?

Not even Slough any more - it was relocated to Thames Valley SC at some point within the last couple of years, can't remember exactly when.

Looking at this page, likely candidates are West Hampstead or London Bridge.

Slough is an IECC but I don't think there's anything stopping someone doing Old Oak PSB, would need the old diagrams though.

West Hampstead and London Bridge have been shown on meets, so I too guess it would be one of those two. Although we've had some out of the blue surprises before!

Fenchurch Street was mentioned here a few weeks ago, but as it's an old sim it would presumably need a bit of work to bring it up to current standard so I doubt it will be that.

Not quite, Slough is a PSB, Slough IECC was an IECC that controlled Paddington to West Drayton and the Heathrow Airport branch, which is now incorporated into Thames Valley.

I've got my fingers crossed hoping the new one is London Bridge - it was the first signalbox I ever went inside. I was 8 at the time!

Can anyone who may have seen this at a previous meet confirm if it had all 9 panels? (Or is it 10?) :S

London Bridge only has 9 panels. 1-7 on the Eastern side and 8&9 on the Central
