Marylebone download problems 11/07/2013 at 20:22 #47014

Like many, it would seem, I too am having a host of problems with Marylebone. In a nutshell when I log into the Licence Manager it is confirmed that a licence for Marylebone (and the other 2 Scottish sims I have bought) are allocated to my machine yet when I launch the sim I am told that I don't have a licence for that particular sim (ie Marylebone) despite the fact that I have just been that I have. I've tried all the suggestions of possible workarounds I can find in the forum (or think I have) and always end up with the same result and i'm getting livid or desperate (I don't know which). Can anyone help, please? :woohoo:

Thanks

We'll have to take it in stages.

First question: Do you have the common.cfg file as per the Possible Issues shown on this page of the Wiki or as discussed in this thread?

First thing - I am grateful for your help.

In answer to your question, No! I've tried all the suggested locations but to no avail. I even tried creating a 'common.cfg' folder manually in the hope that that might help. It didn't. I entered 'common.cfg' into the computer's search facility but, again, nothing. (Incidentally I'm running Windows 7 [64 bit] if that has a bearing on anything.)

Do you have a folder named 'SimSig' in your Public Documents folder? If not, you need to create one and run the Manager again, which should create the common.cfg file.

Looks like you have misunderstood what has been suggested. You have to have a SimSig folder in your Public Documents or Shared Documents folder. Until that folder is present the common.cfg file cannot be created. You do not need a 'common.cfg' folder.

Let's start again.

1) Can you see a Public Documents or Shared Documents folder on your machine? If not, there is a machine problem not a SimSig problem and you need to put that problem right before you go any further. There could be any number of reasons for that problem so you will either need to search for a solution or consult someone who can put things right for you.

2) If you can see that folder, does it have a SimSig sub-folder? If not, you will need to create that sub-folder. If you do not have the sub-folder the common.cfg file cannot be created.

If you do have that SimSig sub-folder then you need to run the Licence Manager which will automatically create the common.cfg file.

Let us know the answers to those questions, please.

I located the 'Public Documents' folder (which was empty). and created a 'SimSig' sub folder within the PD folder. As you suggested I ran the Licence Manger again and it works! Many thanks for your help
