I think I just witnessed a "kick-off" - but I'm afraid I don't have access to a signal number diagram to easily describe it. (Is there one? Couldn't find one in the DocuWiki) There is the approach signal on 63 track which can have its overlap swung between track 4 and track 5. I had a train moving north from 4 to 62 and the approach signal in question was green on the panel. I was able to line a southbound route into track 5, which called the far (trailing) switch reverse when the near (facing) switch was locked normal, and this kicked off the approach signal. I then cancelled the route from the SB into 5 and noticed that the white line of light from the approach signal only extended over the near switches (the double crossover) and not over the trailing point as it normally does. Can't repeat the incident. tried activating "click on track circuit" feature but it did not work. Maybe its nothing. there are scenarios in my day job where a signal that requires trailing points to be locked in advance can release that requirement if the train is proven to be travelling at a lower speed. Don't know if a similar scenario is playing out here. Anyway, FYI. Will write if I can make it a "repeatable offense"! Dave Log in to reply |

Dave, You don't need a signal diagram as can easily get individual signal numbers depending on how you set your sim options. If you have the "right click cancels route" option set then press Shift + Right click on a signal. If you don't have the "right click cancels route" option set, just right click on the signal. Either way, a menu should pop up menu with the signal number listed at the top Log in to reply The following user said thank you: DaveBarraza |

WOW! Major Face-palm :doh Thanks. I really have to sit down and read those instructions some day. So by the numbers now, The pre-existing route was VL6 to VL7, the signal that got kicked off was VL22A, and the route that kicked it was VL24 to VL18. Log in to reply |

I'm guessing you are referring to the depot line approach to Seven Sisters. There's not a signal diagram yet, I can't recall who normally obliges on that but if you Rt click the signal the number should be shown. If you can do a screen shot that would be useful. " said:WOW! Major Face-palm :dohDon't think VL6-VL7 is relevant to the issue- the only condition being that TRF and TRH are clear. For VL22A to be clear (TRH needs to be clear if the "A"O/L of 22B is called) or (TSV,TRJ,TRF clear if "B" O/L of 22B). [TRF is the short TC between Points 12, TRH is the X, TSV and TRJ are the TC with points 14 in them] VL22A with VL22B O/L "A" locks over point 17 so with that O/L set it should not be possible to call route VL24 to VL18. equally it should not be possible to call VL22A->B if either O/L is locked by other routes. So a conundrum for the time being. Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Last edited: 14/11/2013 at 21:21 by Peter Bennet Reason: neither/either! Agreed: VL6-VL7 only mentioned because it locks 13 normal precluding the O/L of VL22A being routed over 13 reverse. General note: It is strange to me (as a NYCT guy) that with VL22A clear 13 and 17 are allowed to move at the same time. I'm used to a conditional cross-lock where "VL22A when 13N locks 17R," or "VL22A when 17N locks 13R." the switches would move sequentially to change positions. Here it is: Initial Conditions Train moves ahead, VL22A clears Route lined over 17 normal, VL22A kicked off I also made it happen the same way, but with a train immediately in approach to VL22A, and got the "adverse aspect" message, etc. - potential SPAD... From the picture it's clear that the problem is that the O/L from VL22B is not fully developed across point 17 thus allowing the route from VL24 to be set which in turn knocks back VL22A. I can't actually reproduce but that's what's happened and I suspect it's to do with the fact that it's an overlapping overlap, which is a core-code issue awaiting resolution.
