Now that the new flyover has been introduced at Hitchin does Signal 712 still have a collar which was there as per default. I have noticed that in both the new and old era sims from the loader that it no longer appears that way unlike the previous non loader version when it was always collared upon opening.

Is there still a need for this now the inevitable collision between an Up Fast and a down Cambridge cross over has been taken out.

As I understand it the at-grade crossover conflict is still available for/in use as so I guess the SBSIs still apply?

The crossover is still in situ, and I'm not sure that trains are booked to use the flyover until the timetable change next week.

During a typical (recent) week it's 50/50 which way you'll go on departure from Hitchin. I've been on various services at varying times of day, and quite often even the same train on 2 consecutive days will go different ways each day.

The new timetable sees the majority of trains using the flyover - and in doing so making the Hitchin-Letchworth journey time 5 minutes, but that's another story

Does anyone have the exact text of the special instructions relating to 712 (or can accurately paraphrase)?

In the modern era sig 712 appears to have double red protection to the junction, I assume as per real life, which would negate the need for the auto-button SBSI.

It does have double red protection, but there's a problem with that in the sim - causes ACOA to following trains. I'm trying to figure out whether that's a bug in the sim or a real life fault which is managed by an administrative control (signallers special instruction or similar)

It's a sim bug methinks (core code?), I've encountered this with other sims with double reds.

(In a nutshell, only occurs with the ACoA train following another, the signal briefly clears but then reverts 1 second later as the RR logic cycles and kicks in)

"Trains capable of exceeding 100mph on the Up Fast Line at Cambridge Jn
You must not clear signal K712 to allow any of the above trains to proceed towards Cambridge
Junction unless:
you have set the route from K708 for the train to proceed or
you have brought the train almost to a stand at K712"

"Passengers for New Lane, should be seated in the rear coach of the train " - Opinions are my own and not those of my employer

Yeah that's exactly what I've got. 712 will clear when the train ahead clears the overlap, but then the 708 route drops and 712 returns to danger. Where else have you seen it happen?

It happens on Edge Hill at Ditton.
