Hi

First: thanks for the new "loader" versions of older sims like SwinDid. I particularly like the yellow "XXXX waiting at red signal..." messages and the fact that the train list now gives the departure times of trains in platforms.

I've been running the 1979 SwinDid timetable in the loader version of the sim with ARS off and Swindon parcels platform as instructed. I'm getting a couple of repeating problems - not having run 1979 in the older version of SwinDid I can't say whether they occurred before or not.

Trains running down from Thingley Junction to Bradford Junction stop just shy of Melksham and the train list says "at buffer stops". Removing them seems to be the only solution.

Trains with a '9' headcode are very bad tempered (!) and report wrong route set if you try to take them onto a goods line - even when that's the timetable requirement. Abandoning the timetable sometimes gets them to move (with a request to confirm that you really do want them on a goods line) but sometimes they just sit there stubbornly and, again, it seems that removing them is the only solution.

I don't recall seeing these problems listed in the forum before (apologies if they have been), so hope they can be added to the bug list. Great timetable, though. Thanks.

Edit: ...oh, and I don't seem to have had a single TRTS in five sim hours.

Thingly problem is a bug, The '79 timetable, along with some of the user supplied ones, may need updated but I suspect the problem is that the use freight timing flag is not ticked for the relevant trains.

Peter

I've gone through and ticked all the "use freight linespeed" flags for the '9' headcode trains. I'm expecting a delayed 9T23 any time now so I should be able to see if that fixes things.

I'll report back in due course.

Thanks.

Richard

On the basis of just one train, 9T231, ticking the "use freight linespeed" box does seem to cure the problem with the '9' headcodes. The next '9' isn't for hours - but here's hoping.

Thanks, Peter.

The class 9 issue is probably related to the experiment by Virgin (and possibly others?) a few years ago to describe certain Cross Country workings as a 9 to indicate preference over Class 1.

Something tells me that would not have happened in the 1970s!

You don't have to remove trains that are 'stuck' down the Melksham, you can reverse them, and send them to Bathampton Junction instead.

Actually it's because Eurostars are class 9.

The core code treats class 9s as passenger or goods depending on the "use freight timings" tick box. The same is true for class 1, if I recall correctly, to allow railtours to not complain when sent down a goods line.

That will be a bug in the simulation data. "At buffer stops" means that the data says that the track doesn't go anywhere.
