A few people from the SimSig community have asked about my blog in recent months. Well, I do occasionally get an enforced break from things like SimSig testing, and am able to write and share about the difficulties I face in day to day life, some of which come up in dealing with SimSig too. At the bottom is a link to my blog - updated this evening with the latest post (first one since August).

I've noticed a reluctance from some to accept people for who they are, and what they can offer to the SimSig (and other) communities. It's so easy to mis-understand someone, or upset someone without realising it.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm not the easiest person to deal with - some of the developers have stopped me testing for them (even after asking me to do things) as an example, because they can't handle the way I work. Others have embraced what I can offer, and used my skills to make those sims better (albeit you lot perhaps haven't yet seen much of the work yet - it will come)!

As one of a number of people with similar or not so similar issues, I'd just like to raise some awareness of the way you react and reply, and the way that it may be taken by the person receiving that message. We are all different, and some find posting on this forum quite difficult at times. Please, just think before you hit the submit button...

Not sure we need that much information!

Ironically, djw, the majority of people getting at you probably have aspergers themselves (rail enthusiasm is a massive asperger magnet, and the more technical/rules based it gets - something like signalling - the more, er, magnetic)- but they don't know it. Imagine how scary life must be for them, they must think 95% of people are unreasonable and they have no idea why.

Just do your best to treat people decently and with respect and try not to let any buggers get you down. I see from your blog that's what you're looking to do. Good.
