Just been playing a bit of Exeter as a multiplayer, but just want to query a couple bits:

1 - When playing in the Tiverton Jn era, I get a message with a signal lamp failure, signal lamp failure in the Tiverton Parkway area fixed. Should this not say Tiverton Jn instead as Tiverton Parkway is not present.

2 - The proportion of signal lamp failures to points failures seems a bit strange. The screenshot attached shows the delay/failure options, but the the first 6 sim hours, seemed to have got almost only signal failures, with maybe a couple points failures towards the end. Not sure if this is a bug, or just how thing's worked out, but did seem a tad strange.

The way that the core code works is that every time a signal changes aspect it checks whether it should randomly fail. Every time a track becomes unoccupied it checks whether it should randomly fail. Every time a point changes position it checks whether it should randomly fail.
If you have a 4-aspect railway with very few point movements then statistically of course the signal failures will be much higher - one train going past a signal will trigger four times as many possibilities of the signal failing than the track failing. The developer writes in the frequency of the failures for each category for each level of difficulty when creating the sim.

Perhaps the whole area needs to be re-visited to establish what the real-life proportions are and then tailoring the frequencies accordingly.

Each object, signal, point, or TC can be given a location. That location comes from the sims own defined locations. If an object fails, the defined location is used in the failure and subsequent fix message. The developer assigns these locations and if an object is in the middle of nowhere the location chosen would be an approximate location so the signaler knows roughly where to look. There may be a deliberate scheme to it or it may simply be the closest timetable point. The objects physical location in relation to timetable locations, the individual developer and the area being simulated may all have some influence.

For example, if Tiverton Junction does not exist as a location in the sim (it's been a long time since I played Exeter so I really don't know if it is or not) then the location chosen may be the next nearest identifiable place that is a designated location in the sim. It could also be that Tiverton Parkway is the name of the SSI that covers that area. The only person who would genuinely know if that location is incorrect therefore is the developer. That said, if you found it then it can't be that far off!

Location allocation pre-dates my involvement and I added Tiverton Junction station as an era option. It's not currently possible to vary loction allocation by era choice. I suspect it should be Tiverton Interlocking area in reality.

Tiverton Junction Interlocking remained largely unchanged when the station "moved".

I believe there were auto buttons added to the main line signals, but whether this was done at the same time or not I do not know.

Considering the MAS only arrived in the area in March 1986, it would be quite surprising if significant changes to the interlocking were required just two months later when the station was relocated.

I haven't looked at the most recent version yet, but in the initial V4 version, there are no auto buttons provided at Tiverton.

I will add here that just because it exists on the sim, it does not mean that it exists in realiaty, None the Western E10K panels actually contain TORR, where as this is a standard feature included on the sims (Exception of Exeter where there is an option to switch it off) - I'm not signaling out the western region sims here but is the only region I have an idea of.

It should be possible to change the location name by era, and two locations can have the same name. So if the boundary between locations has moved, you can have three locations called A, B, and the third A in one era and B in the other.

(At some point the ability to change location by era will get added.)
