Had trains held at the signal prior to the one which controls Swanley Jcn on the up Chatham main but no drivers ringing in, presumably this is an automatic signal with the phone or cab radio going through to Rochester? Will they eventually pass this signal of their own accord in the sim or does this have to be done through the train list?

Do you mean signal 256? If so this is a Victoria signal (hence you are able to see the aspects) and I have just tested it and had the driver ring in after approx. 3-4 minutes
