I currently have 1O14 0600 Glasgow Central - Bournemouth passing Carluke heading towards Carstairs & Gretna On looking at the timetable the train should have run via Bellshill & West Calder but the driver never questioned being wrongly routed Log in to reply |

Drivers may not question a route with a redundant path. But it seems Motherwell drivers don't seem to question routes.

Same happened with me. I realised after it passed Uddingston and ran it into P4, reversed it and regained the correct route via Mossend. Timetable shows a booked call at West Calder, which would be interesting.....

I think this is because the route it went on is an alternative route. Same thing on VicSE and Central, they can go on different routes than booked. This is also the same on NE Scotland. Log in to reply |

Just so long as there's a wire over their head, Motherwell drivers don't seem to question anything. I had a train skip Wishaw (forgot to send it down the branch from Shieldmuir, didn't say anything), and going the other way I almost successfully sent a train from Wishaw to Motherwell via Shieldmuir rather than Holywell, which would have left it pointing the wrong way on the wrong track to continue via Hamilton (and instead hit the "reversing trains at Wishaw get lost" issue when I noticed it and tried to recover).

It looks like drivers never question the route in this sim. Never. None of them. Is it a bug maybe? Last edited: 17/03/2014 at 13:29 by sunocske Log in to reply |

I've since added a handfull of the more obvious ones, but from previous experiance it can tie one in knots trying to be too prescriptive and someone is bound to find a working from 27th March 1978 that went some route that's now questioned. It's the same with timetable stepping which I'm looking at at the moment as it's once again possible. Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Log in to reply |

Surely your obscure working from 1978 would be timetabled that way though? So you can still code for wrong routes while sending a special train the right way.
