Thanks for the link. Makes testing the port forwarding a simple job.

Right. Now were set to test it.

Start your favourite SimSig and run as a server. Then separetely browse to this site: http://ping.eu/port-chk/

The site will helpfully show your external IP at the top. Put in the external IP and the default port 50505 and click go.

If all is working it should say port is open and also in SimSig you should get a message like this:

If you get both of these - job done!
Belly buster did a test earlier on both SimSig ports and both showed your test message

Has your Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) been setup correctly? If it is in automatic mode your internal IP's change. You must have a static IP.

No reason you "must", if your lease time is sufficiently long then your PC shouldn't change internal IP between shut downs, or if you tell the router to always assign a set IP to a set machine.

Well said Sacro they tone and misinformation of the previous poster is enough to put someone off hosting.

That said if SimSig incorporated uPnP then most of these issues would go away for most people.

I would guess in that case you are good to go.

If you want to do a test host I am sure you can ask here and someone will attempt to connect.
