I'd really love to see a Brockenhurst to Weymouth (inc. Lymington) sim. It could be chained with Southampton. Honestly not sure how feasible it is because I'm no expert but just putting it out there that it would be one that I'd really enjoy

Honestly not sure how feasible it is because I'm no expert but just putting it out there that it would be one that I'd really enjoy :) A nice idea, and I agree with you. The layout would have to be based on the surviving boxes though. From memory those boxes, and their areas of control where known, are: - Dorchester South (Weymouth to Moreton + line to Maiden Newton via. Dorchester West) - Wool (Moreton to East Stoke)** - Wareham (East Stoke to Holton Heath: includes Worgret Jcn for SR)** - Hamworthy (Holton Heath - Poole Harbour Bridge)** - Poole (Pokesdown to Poole Harbour Bridge)** - Bournemouth (New Milton to Pokesdown + Bournemouth CS line) - Brockenhurst (Ashurst New Forest to New Milton + Lymington branch) Anyone intending to gather the information hasn't got long. Engineering work is forthcoming with line closures between between Poole and Wool (3rd & 4th April 2014) and between Bournemouth and Weymouth (5th & 6th April). After those works are done, Wool, Wareham, Hamworthy & Poole boxes will be abolished and then, at 0400hrs (as I understand it) on Monday 07th April this comes into play: http://photos.signallingnotices.org.uk/photo_index.php?pc=521 Some of the boxes I list above have ** by them. This is because I am not sure what parts of the line they control and the sections I gacve are partly - or wholly - a guess. if anyone can enlighten me I would be interested. Thanks. Wool is Winfrith to Holme Crossing Poole is Parkstone to Poole Harbour Bridge Bournemouth is New Milton to Parkstone The trouble is that there's not a lot of regulating to be done. You can loop trains at Brockenhurst and Bournemouth but after that it's just one train following another. The new arrangement at Wool is slightly more interesting because there is (will be) a section of reversible line through the platform. Last edited: 07/03/2014 at 11:36 by Firefly Log in to reply |
