The Railway Tavern at Liverpool Street is booked for the afternoon of Saturday 19th. July for our usual summer London meet.

The cost still has to be confirmed but should not be vastly different from last year.

A sign-up sheet and payment option in the shop will be set up in due course.

Interesting choice of date given the DRS Crewe Gresty Bridge Open Day. (Had you realised this might be a clash for many of the "railway enthusiasts" amongst us?)
God bless, Daniel Wilson

Will have to miss out this year for London, as Danny mentions, I'll be on the Class 68 tour for the DRS Open Day

One of the many things clamouring for attention on a Saturday afternoon in July. We couldn't get the room before 19th. July as the pub will have it set up for the World Cup before that date and after 19th. July you start running into the school holiday season when the meet could easily conflict with people being away. Unfortunately there are always going to be some who cannot attend whatever date is selected because of other commitments.

However, the comment is well made and we will certainly have to take note of how many of those who regularly attend meets decide they have other priorities on that particular date.

A sign-up sheet is now available in the Upcoming Events section of the website.

Charges will be the same as last year with payment in advance at £9.95 and payment after 12th. July at £12.00. Even if you just intend to turn up at the door and pay your £12.00, please use the sign-up sheet so we can order the buffet for the correct number.

Usually 5-10 minute walk to a Brick Lane curry emporium.

Just a reminder with just over a month to go the sign-up sheet is availble in the events section in the top bar.

The likelihood is that the simulations in use will be the two Victorias (Central & Eastern) and West Hampstead. If you haven't bought the sims yet it's a good oppurtunity to have an extended try-before-you-buy session!

Unfortunately I'll be in the UK just two weeks earlier. Had the meet (or my visit to London) been planned on a different date I could have been there for the first time.

With regret, I am going to have to miss out on attending this year's London meet.

And I will miss not being there, too, as getting to see and indeed hopefully play one or both of the likely two Victoria simulations alongside the likely West Hampstead simulation in such a big chain would've been awesome. :woohoo:

Someone else will have to bring a camera for the group photo at the end.

I don't have the Victorias or WH... would you prefer me to have them installed as a demo set that will just need the meet licence or is it better to install them on the day?

I'll try to remember my camera as well. Can't have too many photos!

Back on the desktop now :-) I vaguely recall discussion of a previous meet where it was being said that, for those who bring laptops but don't have licences for the sims in use, there would be some kind of special 1-day-only licence for the meet. (It might be wishful thinking that recalls a concession that would make it available for another day or 2... not that I'd be in a position to use it if there was such.) But I wasn't reading that closely, given it was a meet I couldn't get to. Might be worth trying to look up arrangements for a meet where the payware McSims made their first appearance... I think it was somewhen back then.

For the last few meets we've sorted out licenses for those that need them at the meet by means of a Wifi/3g dongle. However, I think we only needed it once!

Unfortunately not - the meet starts at 4am local time and finishes 10am! Too early for beer! I'll certainly stick my head around the door electronically if possible.

Any chance us Aussies can have a look in, if possible?

It all depends if someone at the meet has a wireless dongle or some other internet connection and is willing to be the middle man

As we have only about 20 people signed up we should be OK for power - I've got a 6-way and a 4-way in my bag so those and Nathan's will probably fit the bill. However it would be handy if anyone has a spare router/wireless access point. Our prime system is having a fit of the vapours this evening and may give up the ghost before we meet. I've got a back-up router in my bag but another as 1st. reserve would de-risk things a bit.

A couple of photos.

Left side were running Vic (SE) whilst the right had Vic Central.

If you are wondering about the attraction out of the end window, the Crossrail excavations had revealed an odd looking tiled wall that would have been under the road and various theories were put forward as to what it belonged to.
