I have just submitted v1.0 of the fictional 1944 timetable for the Swindon and Didcot area. It is May 1944, weeks before D-Day. The munitions depot at Monkton Farleigh mines is busy day and night shipping out vital supplies to ports on the South Coast where the invasion fleet is being assembled. Troop trains are also running constantly to these ports. A limited passenger service is running including various branch line services. In addition refurbished US locomotives are being moved to Southampton docks. Obviously, the track layout differs considerably from that in service then, but I hope that I have provided a reasonable simulation. One of the main differences is that the link from Didcot directly to the south coast via Newbury has long gone, so all trains for the Southampton area are routed via Reading. Thingley Yard substitutes for the branch into Monkton Farleigh mine, which was the largest ammunition depot in Southern England. Ammunition trains for Weymouth are hauled out by a pilot which detaches at Chippenham and then returns to the yard. Information about Monkton Farleigh is available via this link Modern style headcodes have been used for simplification. The file will be in the downloads area if it has been approved. Approval requires a moderator to check some basic details of the uploaded file to ensure it adheres to SimSig's TT requirements. This can take a few days depending on the availability of a moderator to do the checks. If the file is not in the downloads area, either its still pending approval or the file does not meet the requirements which will require the original submitter to re-submit the TT with the necessary corrections. I suspect this is one of the TTs that doesn't conform to the standard, and is being held back until changes are made.

It is one that does not conform; submitted under a different name too (not that that is a problem). Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Log in to reply The following user said thank you: Gonzo75 |

That's a shame... I best go read the new conformity rules!

I could guess the version is 4.3.7 but unlike NWC which only has one released iteration that's not 100% certain. Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Log in to reply |

Indeed they are not! A reasonable and understandable set of requirements. Hopefully the timetable can be resubmitted, I'd like to give it a go!

Talking of Didcot and munitions, I know the current Didcot Power Station site was formerly a munitions depot until around 1960.

I have renamed and re-submitted. I had no idea that there was a problem. I was just going on the names of existing timetables.

Quote:This TT has not been tested on the SwinDid loader version as that doesn't work very well on my antiquated XP system.Works fine as a loader version as far as I can see! Only up to 0035 so can't make too many comments yet. However, 2T11 is simply described as 'Troop Train' - would like to know origin & destination too! Also F2 train list shows everything as powered by Diesel - not a TT issue but possibly a SimSig issue. There is an option to specify steam as a 'speed class' but not a 'power type' - unless I'm missing something. Look forward to running this 'different' TT and well worth reading your link to the history of Monkton Farleigh depot. Many thanks Last edited: 15/05/2014 at 20:13 by Pinza Log in to reply The following user said thank you: hotwellian |

Even on NR WTTs, steam hauled specials are shown as diesel, so SimSig is correct?
