Hello, I have a question about writing timetables. I know some timetables use passing times in case of trains that may stop at a particular location, eg. to be passed by a faster train. However, when i tried to reproduce that behavior on Kings Cross sim, I got nowhere - the train behaved just as if the timing point was a pure passing one (I even couldn't tell it "wait till booked time ..."). So I'd like to ask how does one use this feature (if it indeed does make a difference when running the sim).

On a similar note, I'd like to ask if combinations of Passing Time + Stopping Position or Passing Time + TLS ever make sense.

Passing time is used when a train doesn't stop at a location be it a junction or station. It has nothing to do with fast trains overtaking slower ones

It's the other way around, the train that is passing has the passing time, the train that stops has stopping times.

Arrival time+ passing time is purely cosmetic and has no effect on the train's behaviour- it recognises it as a pure passing time. I use it sometimes so that if the train isn't put in the loop it keeps going without any TT editing/grinding to a halt on the mains and waiting for departure time.

If the time is left as a normal arrive/depart, freight trains will sometimes ring up asking for early departure.

If pass time is selected, no other stopping options should be specified.
