I am curently writing a timetable to peterborough. I have little access for the freight on the mainline so I am having to route it via Lincoln and Spalding. I want to keep the times as close to real world as possible but no freight that I am aware of goes all the way from Peterborough through to Doncaster via licoln. This is a long shot but does anyone know how long it would take for a class 4 and class 6 to make this journey or if not any serivce that has made this journey in the past so I can get the timings off the web. Rules of the plan / route should have rough timings and require headway?

Here's one example of a class 6 in the Down direction - I doubt class 4 timings would differ greatly. You won't find section times in ROTP (they vary between different types of train with different characteristics), only headways, junction margins, platform reoccupation and other planning rules.

Ahh, in which case they're available in the ITPS dump from NR Open Rail data.

but no freight that I am aware of goes all the way from Peterborough through to Doncaster via licoln. [/quote] I regularly get stopped at Finningley LC for a Freightliner to pop through. I wonder whether these come through Lincoln via Spalding (from Peterborough) or whether they come from Newark and avoid lincoln. "We don't stop camborne wednesdays" Log in to reply |

Erm - how about 6E88 Middleton Towers-Goole Glassworks sand - booked via Lincoln MWFO since Christmas: http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/H35830/2014/06/16/advanced (although it can go via the Sleaford Avoider now) If you want a southbound path to base from, 4L45 Wakefield Europort-Felixstowe South FLT has a path via Lincoln since May, but is still running ECML: http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/H31774/2014/06/13/advanced In answer to JC92's question - all intermodal traffic into Doncaster Railport (that's 1 GBRf and 4 Freightliner services) now runs Newark-Swinderby-Boultham Jn-Pyewipe Jn-Gainsborough-Doncaster to avoid needing a shunt loco if it arrives via the ECML. The southbound returns are mixed in their routings. The early morning one can get diverted via Retford Whisker Hill Curve, Worksop and the South Yorkshire Joint on weeks when the cyclical overnight engineering works block it's normal route.
