I've had the ARS pulling off for trains too early into Marylebone before a departure is due to depart, ie. xx37 departure but ARS has pulled off for the xx40 arrival. This didn't happen on past Sims. To be honest I don't normally use ARS so I was surprised it works like this Is this a fault?? Log in to reply |

ARS doesn't know a train is ready to depart from Marylebone until it gets the TRTS, and hence will route an inbound service. I think that's how it was explained when I asked the question anyway. "Passengers for New Lane, should be seated in the rear coach of the train " - Opinions are my own and not those of my employer Log in to reply |

IIRC they don't leave Marylebone in auto for that reason.

I do understand how it works, "it tries to give as clear a signal as possible". It didn't do that before when I used ARS on Waterloo sim. Is this a correction to how was programmed before? Log in to reply |

It aims for two green signals ahead of each train, where possible. The dev can restrict (or extend) that, for example long sections with repeaters, level crossings ahead, or whatever. The ARS on the original Waterloo was a bit buggy. Things have improved significantly since then but ARS is not perfect, not on SimSig and not in the real world. That said, if a train is sufficiently early approaching Marylebone there's no reason why it can't get a road straight in if it's not going to delay other trains. There's a window of a couple of minutes either side of scheduled times when ARS puts things in booked order; outside that window it can regulate to cause minimum overall delay. As Sacro says, IRL the Marylebone IECC do tend to handle Marylebone station manually. SimSig Boss Log in to reply |

Out of interest, how close to the real thing is the ARS code (or the effects of it) on Marylebone?
