Just spotted a minor spelling error: the message "Train approaching from Saltley Junction" when a train enters at Saltney Junction.

Excelent sim, have really enjoyed it. I just have one comment though. The boxes i sign have sequential interlocking that requires me to clear signal in a certain order i.e. Home, Section then Distant. Or First Home, Distant, Second Home, Section then Intermediate Block Home at Bottesford. However, in this sim I seem to be able to clear the section, then clear the home with the section off, which i wouldn't be able to do at work. Is this to do with the boxes in real life or the sim? Some boxes have sequential locking, some do not.

I've never worked or come across a mechanical AB box without sequential locking (certainly with a semaphore section signal, it's really a must, otherwise you could just leave your section signal off all day!) but, on the other hand, one of my boxes (AB on the main lines with an NX panel, and not many miles south of the aforementioned Bottesford!) will let you clear the signals in any order you wish - as all the signals are replaced to danger by the passage of trains, there's no danger of letting a train approach a clear signal that's already been 'used'. The latter arrangement seems more fitting with Simsig's interpretation of the AB signalling!

It is certainly possible to recreate this in any sim. Paul You have to get a red before you can get any other colour Log in to reply |

I have seen boxes with both semaphores and colour lights having sequential locking, and have seen boxes with both not have sequential locking. Sequential locking can also be done both electrically or mechanically. Log in to reply |

Question about some signals around Penyfford and Gobowen. Some signals (circled in screenshot below and the one in front of 2B28) will stay red unless the handoff to the next sector is accepted and set or the next signal (when the crossing is clear at Gobowen for example) is set and green. However, the trains will continue. Is this supposed to work this way for some reason or not? Last edited: 17/07/2014 at 12:38 by renevanh Log in to reply |

It is working correctly. This feature is to simulate the "board to board" signalling method where a Signalman has to bring trains almost to a stand at each mechanical signal before clearing it, unless he can clear them all. In the top instance, you have 1C26 in the section to Shrewsbury, so you cannot clear all the signals at once. There are no yellow aspects on semaphores generally, so you have to clear the signals one at a time as the train gets to them. Once you have the line clear all the way then you can lower the barriers and pull all the signals and they will all come off. Log in to reply |

9pN1SEAp in post 145845 said:The location ESLNYJN (in post-2018) appears to be right at CR497 (Rossett Jn) rather than Saltney Jn itself, even though the TT validator then allows path ESLNYJN -> RSSTTJN -> WREXHMG.The entry point in either era is Saltney Junction. When the section between Wrexham and Saltney Junction was single only, the prevailing line speed was 60mph in either direction. When the line between Saltney Junction and Rosset North Junction was doubled, a large part of what is now the up line was increased to 90mph, and beyond that 90mph for multiple units. To the best of my knowledge, no changes to the timetable have ever been made to take into account the major increase in line speed, and having checked the two trains I used to regularly get home from Chester back in the day they both have exactly the same times between Chester and Wrexham General they did over 10 years ago. So I'm not surprised things in the sim are turning up a bit early. Thanks. It turned out I had read the wrong Saltney Junction timing, i.e. the one from Holyhead to Chester, not the latter!

I seem to have a funny with 6J40 which I had overridden to force its appearance. The TT is validated but at the appointed time, instead of appearing at Penyffordd Cement (and in F2), it gets marked as entered but vanishes! Post-2018 Interestingly, marking it un-entered and delayed, it did call. Looks like the %age decisions are done quite a few minutes before entry time, longer than I expected.
