I must be jinxed! 12/07/2014 at 20:43 #62723

Hi all, I'm running the 2009 TT with medium delays set but failures set 0. Am about halfway through the TT and aside from the delays all stations between International and Cov seem to be jinxed. Just about every one of the stopping services, already very delayed, seem to suffer a 'tech fault' or 'passenger disturbance' at one of the stations. Just wonder if this is something in the core code that kicks in when delays are set, a bit like 'driver toilet breaks' or 'wrong food trolley', although I've not seen that one yet (musn't speak too soon!).
By no means a winge, just an observation. Other than that, it's great for keeping me on my toes.
Many thanks.
Mal.

Not sure what the issue is - wrong food trolley, passenger disturbance, etc. are all delays, which you've said you've got turned on!

Note that the delays slider is much more sensitive than you might think. The 50% position is what I'd call "very high", never mind what 100% might give - I've never been brave enough to try...

Failures and Delays are two separate things..

The number of failures can be set as 0, but the delay on trains etc is a separate entity.
These would be the following:
Train DeLay Probability & Train Delay Amount.

(Hope this helps )

I think what Mal is trying to get at is that the delays seem to always occur at the same stations.

Hope this helps,
Jamie

Well it's not like there's many stations for the sim to choose from...

Are delays done on a basis of "X delays per hour" or "Y% chance of delay for each stop a train makes"? If the former, then yes, smaller sims would be expected to suffer more for the same level of delays, but I would have thought it would be the latter.

Hi all, thanks for the comments.
All points taken, But I was just commenting on the seemingly high number of delays and the fact they have affected almost every train.
A bit of food for thought there Danny252, I've probably just set the bar rather high without realising just how sensitive the sliders are. I just decided to pick a position and go for it. Now I'm seeing the result, on my own head be it.
Cheers,
Mal.

If you change the position of the sliders mid-game, they should respond to the change.

Cheers Temple Meads. I just experimented as I like running sims with delays on. Having worked at New St you get used to coping when everything goes bottoms up. I seem to have set that one quite high. Must admit I didn't realise you could change the settings during play, I assumed they were set until you restarted the sim. Thanks for the gen.
Mal.
