Have just downloaded the new version of Westbury. When trains are entering the system at sidings the train description does not appear and when I click on the signal the option to input it manually is greyed out so I have to enter the train description into the next track circuit section. Is this a fault or is this meant to happen on the new version?

Probably intended, as most sidings don't have a TD berth IRL. I did some tests and found out that in Perfect and Beginner scenarios the berths are there while in Standard and Bad Weather they aren't.

Thank you. That explains it. Silly that it doesn't show though because if you have to keep the train waiting you have to put a sticky note on to remind you it's there.

It reflects the real thing- every TD berth has to be paid for, so they tend not to be provided at sidings. SimSig adds them in Perfect and Beginner modes as an additional aid to less experienced players. The sticky note method also reflects reality

At it's heart SimSig is a simulation, therefore it wants to accurately copy the real location as much as is practical/possible. However, the developer of Westbury has been nice enough to add these extra Train Describer Berths in Beginner & Perfect modes.

Ah, you power box men don't know you're born.

If you'd worked here http://www.wbsframe.mste.co.uk/public/Clapham_Junction_B.html all you'd ever have had was 1st, 2nd and 3rd approaching - and you'd have had to clear every one out manually as the train passed so the rest could shuffle up and the next description arrive (and that's on top of transmitting every description manually).

(Apologies Sanders, you'll get used to my sense of humour in time... )

IMHO this sort of thing (and TORR) should be a separate option rather than being included in difficulty options. Not to say I don't appreciate it - it would just be nice to control it separately to delays/failures as I like playing with TORR but in standard mode for failures, etc. Also I like playing with TORR but don't mind not having the extra TD berths.

Even though you all know I like things being made as easy as possible, I too agree with Muzer - we should always be made aware of the way things are in real life. Therefore, not only should TDs and TORR be available options (preferably at all levels, not just in the lowest ones), the sim manual should contain a short note indicating which features actually unprototypical, so we can all make better informed decisions as to whether to check the appropriate boxes or not when they appear.

If I'm correct, when there's option for additional berths or TORR, it means real panel doesn't have them.
