Just a small thing I noticed just now in a thread I have posted in:

http://www.SimSig.co.uk/index.php?option=com_kunena&view=topic&catid=63&id=38563&limitstart=10&Itemid=15#64971

I posted at 16:00hrs Yesterday (which was Friday 10th October 2014 for those reading this after today) and yet dwelham313's post - which was after mine - is shown as 00:58 Yesterday, but surely that should be 00:58 TODAY (as it Saturday 11th October). Unless of course his post really was made before mine but did not show up until today?

No big issue of course - I would probably class that time of night as being yesterday as I would have been to bed between then and now! Does the forum have a similar cut-off, in that anything before its bedtime is classed as yesterday?

Perhaps the forum "clock" runs on UTC and doesn't think about time zones or summer time?

Yesterday should be TODAY. This problem should be referred to Joomla.

Might have something to do with the time-zone you set yourself as being in. Mine normally posts as GMT but I've set it as Vladivostok to see what happens. (it's 14.36 BST).

Peter

I see it as posted "Today 00:36" but everyone else's is posted after mine Met's is shown as posted at "Today 19:19".

Now I'm at the South Pole (which is apparently GMT +13h) and Met's post is shown as "Today 21.19" and mine is "Today 02.36".

I've now got a headache and need a lie down.

I think it maybe something along the lines of what I think Kev indicated - where or in what time zone the server is in determines the day but the user can have the display indicate the relative local times.

Joomla does seem to get a bit confused sometimes.

Thanks all.

Tried a few of things Peter did, and now I too have a headache and need to work out which part of the world I'm really in
No big issue as I said, and maybe just a case of next time not being too observant.

I was intrigued by the fact that the South Pole was GMT+13 I'd have thought it would be in every time zone at the same time: sounds like an episode of Dr Who.

Joomla is almost certainly using the IANA TZ database, a project I'm involved in. The base at the South Pole runs on New Zealand time, and right now that's 13 hours ahead of GMT. Other bases in Antarctica are on different time zones.
