Confusion..... 16/10/2014 at 16:11 #65076

Evening all,

I am working on a new TT for KX. There are many STP and VAR workings and some of those from Hornsey EMU Depot are scheduled with locations similar to this:

http://www.opentraintimes.com/schedule/N45626/2014-12-27

So Hornsey EMU Depot to Alexandra Park. Hmmm. So how to go about this one then? The obvious entry point to use is labelled "Hornsey EMU Depot Up Carr Line" (signal K107). This means that the entry point to use out of those in the list would be "Hornsey EMU Depot (north)" but the modern KX layout is needed and this entry point won't work as it gives me the "no path found between Horsney EMu Depot north and Alexandra Palace" error. The other obvious entry points to try are given in the list of possible points as "Hornsey Up Carr Line" and "Hornsey Up Sidings (north)" but the same error message - "no path found between [entry point] and Alexandra Palace" is returned.

I realise that the schedule for these workings may get changed later but both RTT (RealTimeTrains) and OTT (OpenTrainTimes) have the same schedules for these workings. However I am somehow going to have to find something suitable to make this work how I wish it to and I am not sure how I would otherwise time things and there are several ECS workings with their timing points of Hornsey EMu Depot => Alexandra Palace (P1) => Finsbury Park.

So how can I set this up? Advice welcome.
Dave

I see what you mean Dave...

As having it enter at K107 is giving you errors, looking at the signal plan my only thoughts so far are (haven't played KX for a while) my suggestions would be:

1) Have it enter from Bounds Green Depot and reverse at K111 into Alexandra Palace P1
2) Retime its entry and have it enter the south end of Hornsey reversing at Bowes Park.

As I say I haven't been on KX for a while so not entirely sure the first won't come up with an error either. I realise that will then make these schedules not 100% realistic but they are the only workarounds I can think of before beer o'clock!

Others may be able to give you other suggestions but hope this helps a bit

Gareth

Hello Dave,

At the moment:

Hornsey Up carriage line entrance only work for trains going to Bounds Green Depot South Exit.

My suggestion is:

To use Bounds Green Depot North Entrance (reversing at Bowes Park and then stopping at Alexandra Palace P1).
To use Bounds Green Depot South Entrance (Skip Alexandra Palace P1 stop, next location Finsbury Park P1).
To use Hornsey EMU Depot South S86 or S88 Entrance (Skip Alexandra Palace P1 stop, next location Finsbury Park P1).

Anyway, you will delay your train, and i tell you why, the speed limits on US2 from Alexandra Palace to Finsbury park, wasn't updated, so you will get half speed, just to finish, you'll need to get around this problem, Gareth does have a good suggestion to Enter from Bounds Green Depot South and reverse at K111 to AAP P1.

If you want to do a 2014 TT, you'll have problems here and Hertford North too, New Crossovers to acess Platform 1. If you need some help, I'm Available (If you interested, PM me).

Regards,
Thiago. (CTC).

Type on the same moment with Gareth.

Thank you both for your replies. The odd thing is that, as far as I can see, there is no obvious reason for that train to go to Alexandra Palace (P1) in the first place as there are no trains scheduled, as things look at the moment, to start from there. So it can't be dropping another train.

I will see how the schedules pan out: they may get revised a bit.

The data appears to be for 27th December. There may be engineering work affecting the south end of Hornsey EMUD requiring this ECS move to depart via the North end and reverse at Ally Pally.

A good bet. However Thameslink GN's website only mentions engineering works taking place at Kings Cross. It does not mention any works taking place anywhere else in the area of the sim.

If it doesn't affect their passenger services then they won't mention it...

Oh I don't know, during last weekends strike ATW where advertising a rail replacement bus from Abbey Foregate Carriage sidings to Shrewsbury!

"Passengers for New Lane, should be seated in the rear coach of the train " - Opinions are my own and not those of my employer

But how else would they transport staff from one to the other? By walking?!

Let's hope they finish the engineering work on time, unlike the last two Monday morning on the Great Northern when we lost the fast lines between Potters Bar and Ally Pally (last week) and between Potters Bar and Welwyn GC this week. Caused havoc with my commute this morning  but could make an interesting Simsig scenario...
