All these reports seem to relate to exe sims. These can't be updated except by converting to loader, so if there is an issue it can't really be fixed (or, for that matter, investigated).

Just to update - have updated my graphics drivers though good old MS update and Carlisle now works fine. Though I had to update manually as auto update seemed to not complete. Might be worth looking at if you have these issues. It has also helped IE work better on my PC.

Hi Speedcool Please refer back to the assistance post given by Steamer yesterday at 21:34 in response to the exact same question. For reference, I hope Steamer will not mind me posting the relevent part of his excellent post, which is copied below. "Have you installed the system files? Llangollen is launched via the SimSig Loader. Start the Loader via the shortcut, click to start a new simulation and select Llangollen from the list. Have you read the installation guide? It contains full instructions for downloading and installing simulations, and links to some helpful pages to get you started" Paul You have to get a red before you can get any other colour Log in to reply |

in my case West Hampstead is the culprit.

As the OP for the thread, I haven't had any problems for a while. I also uninstalled Spybot S&D so that could be the culprit. Log in to reply |

Hi, received the following error in Wembley Mainline playing the 2012 Olympics TT. This game was started after the latest Loader update (4.4). Sim version 1.1 2W57 is on Line E and had just been given the road from 608 to platform 12. 2007 points have failed (no reverse detection), hence the reminder applied to them, track circuit TECN near platform 5 has failed, and there's another TC failure on the down fast near West London Junction. Wembley is the only sim that freezes with any kind of regularity for me, so I'll provide whatever detail I can: Two savegames attached: the snapshot at 0830, where I am able to reproduce the freeze at about 0835-0836, and 'savegame.ssg' which was created as soon as the sim threw the above error. Loaded the save from the 0830 snapshot, performed the following moves in the Euston area (ignoring other areas), and was able to reproduce the freeze at 08:35:42: - 1R11 talked past signals from 308->306-> plat 5, with all points keyed to the appropriate position but no reminders applied. Points not released until the train is out of the block. - 5M11 from platform 1 to the down slow via the dive (line X) to follow 1G98 - Advance 1R13 to 106 - Advance 2J08 to 308 - 0M16 (P1) follow 5M11 via X to change direction behind signal 512 (605-109 route to get behind 512) - Advance 1W90 to 108 - 2T23 from plat 12 to the down slow via line C - 2W57 (described as its next run 5C92) from 608 to platform 12 Freezes at that point, after 2W57 begins to move. Route was also set for 0M16 to follow 2W57 towards signal 608. Note that the sim did not freeze when I attempted the same steps a third time! Frustration! Definitely not expecting a miracle with this one, it must be a hell of a task troubleshooting this kind of thing, but there ya go if it helps. Never mind the absolute disaster caused by the failures! Post has attachments. Log in to view them. Last edited: 30/03/2015 at 06:13 by flabberdacks Reason: Forgot to list a failure Log in to reply |

Thanks - it narrows it down to one particular block of code though there's nothing obvious there, and - of course - I can't reproduce it despite following the helpful steps! Logged in our issue tracking system (12700).

I imagine this kind of thing needs the planets to align and have every train, route and points in a specific position at the same time for it to be reliably reproduced. Not sure how I got it to happen even a second time! Here's a save much closer to the point at which it was freezing, although I'm convinced (due to the number of repetitions) that something else needs to happen, not just the routing of 2W57. I noticed that in all of Flabberdacks failures, the Maximum Failures in F3 is set to 10. Could this have any bearing on the problem? Barry Barry, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Last edited: 31/03/2015 at 06:36 by BarryM Log in to reply |

Oh, look what we have here, later in the same game Different train, different line, different platform. It took about 15-20 seconds to freeze after this error and I noted that the train was 'moving at 0mph' from error to freeze after having been given the road from 306 to platform 8. Savegame attached, taken immediately after it threw the above error. Train is described as its next leg 1W91. However, on loading this save, even though I have changed nothing, the train moves off immediately and everything appears to be okay. Post has attachments. Whilst testing, Pascal has encountered this bug. I've done some probing, and have narrowed it down to:- Train A is in sim with next working of Train B. Edit (in F4) Train B and on exiting the editor sim crashes. Also it seems to be related to Train A nearing its destination/route set to end in some form. Can anyone who has had this bug relate it to this scenario? I can only help one person a day. Today's not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look too good either. Log in to reply |

Thanks to the stuff you sent me the other day, I've been able to fix this (and another internal error that I'm pretty sure has the same cause). Thanks. Briefly, under some circumstances a pointer to the timetable of the next train is cached, but when the user edits a timetable the address of the data structure holding it changes. That means the cached value is a bad pointer, explaining all the problems. I *believe* Geoff is planning a release with this fixed in the next day or two. Just had the "black scroll bar of death" twice now on my West Hampstead host. This is the first time I have hosted on the SimSig server, so not using my normal rig. As I'm on a laptop I am dragging the scroll bar rather than using a mouse wheel. I suspect it is because the Remote Desktop only has a basic graphics display adapter. Log in to reply |

As these issues are popping up again, this is worth a bump. Solutions seem to be uninstalling spybot S&D, and updating graphics cards drivers. As a side comment, the screenshot in the OP seems to have transmogrified to Man Picc (which didn't come out for a few years after the post)! Spooky! Log in to reply |

I've had a freeze again, this time on Leeds North West. Decided to take a debug dump. Without the symbols it's pretty inert but maybe it can shine a light on something to someone. With numerous threads it could be a deadlock. ----- Systeminfo: ProcessorArchitecture: 0 ProcessorLevel: 6 ProcessorRevision: 19971 NumberOfProcessors: 4 OS: ProductType: 1 MajorVersion: 10 With numerous threads it could be a deadlock. Thanks for this. SimSig is single threaded; the other 2-3 are to do with UI calls I think. In fact I just traced through the paint method and the Delphi libraries are pretty thin at this point - just two method calls before calling StretchBlt in gdi32.dll.
