Hello all!

My name is Mitchel and I'm from California, US. I've been a big fan of railroading in general since I was very little and now I like to think of myself as one of the more knowledgable US railfans out there, especially when it comes to UK rail history (A Yank who loves UK railroading? Strange, I know). Looking forward to learning the program and possibly mucking up things on a MP session. I'd love to do something simple to start off with just to learn from you more experienced simmers. Feel free to say hello! I don't bite, hard.

:silly:

Don't worry about messing up MP's, some of the hosts start with it mucked up!

I live on the West Coast. I've never been to NY, but I hear it's beautiful country. Seems like you made it just in time to see the changing of the colors. Lucky Dog!

Lake Shore Limited and California Zephyr presumably! The latter through western Colorado is spectacular.

A couple of weeks ago I went from Seattle to Chicago (Empire Builder). Certainly saw some changing foliage there, and then again a week later when we had a family trip up through central California, Bishop (good RR museum), Yosemite, and San Francisco. Bit of a yellow dustbowl with this drought though.

My Family visits Bishop quite often for the beautiful trails and mountain scenery. My parents own a mechanics shop that specializes in 4WD and Jeeps, so Bishop, along with Moab, Utah and Silver Springs, Colorado, are big vacation spots for us.

I once took the Surfliner from Lompoc Halt down to Santa Ana, and then an immediate return in Business class! It was loads of fun, but I was only 12 or 13. I want to take it again but this time, with my S/O to vacation in San Fransisco. I've planned it out and it'd be quite the journey!

As you said a few months ago, it's not known as the Late For Sure Ltd for nothing. 330 down into Chicago. All the connecting trains west and south had left except the Zephyr, which was held and left 105 late. Lost more time dropping 2 x private varnish and a loco at Omaha in the middle of the night. Rolled into Emeryville about 4 hours down.

Passed an eastbound freight as we were coming down from the Sierra Nevada: 3 train engines, 100+ load, plus five bankers :yikes

Trip to Seattle was good and arrived 35 up! Scenery wonderful, especially in Colorado.
