I've got an interesting problem with 5T06 (enters Fratton CSD at 05.45 for Fratton RECP).

The train leaves the CSD and stops on the Back Road as the timetable suggests (at 523 signal, facing Up), but then when I try calling Fratton Yard Shunter (C/E) to offer him the train, he tells me he cannot accept it (try later). It's now 06.20, and the train was due to re-enter at the London end of Fratton Yard at 05.57. I've called the shunter more than a dozen times now, and they're refusing to accept the train. The F2 list doesn't suggest anything might be preventing this from happening, so why would the C/E shunter not be accepting?

It's nothing to do with the same physical train using identical headcodes to get it out of the London end of the yard is it?

EDIT: I authorised the driver to pass signal 523 at danger, just to get the train out of the way. Sure enough, as soon as it disappeared, it re-appeared as 5T06 for the second part of the journey to Eastleigh at Fratton East. I've now got 5P92 waiting to go into the yard (ex DCS), and that too re-appears later under the same headcode at Fratton East. It is also being refused entry into the yard.

Is this an issue with the sim/TT? Do duplicate headcodes in the TT cause the yard to become confused and not accept trains?

Any chance of a saved game (preferable) or screen shots to enable investigation works to be undertaken please....

Of course. My edit above shows that I got rid of 5T06 by forcing it into the yard, but now they won't let 5P92 in either. So I've saved the game with 5P92 waiting at 523 signal.

As I advised John earlier, I am currently on nights at work which I finish at 07:00 in the morning, once I get home this now gives me something to work off to investigate.

Unless one of my wonderful testers can have a look through the save for me (hint hint lol)

Also were any problems experienced with 5E18 which does the same routing as 5T06 / 5P92?

No comment, Mr Potter

Lazzer - I have had a look at your save and can confirm that for some reason the shunter is 'going on strike' in regards to those trains. I have also run a new run of the timetable and in a new sim run so far all the trains have been accepted as expected. I have tried to let the slots time out, but the shunter happy accepts straight away, destructive testing is underway. Can you think of the actions you undertook immediately prior to having the issue first off.

I don't specifically remember 5E18, but then I don't remember having any problems with any trains before 5T06, so it must have worked properly. I note that it too has identical headcodes in the TT, so maybe it's not that? Whatever it is, the yard is not accepting anything now so I have to PSaD 523 signal to get them in.

I just started a new game (04.45 start), and 5E18 is accepted into the yard no problem. Thinking about it, and I can't remember exactly, but I MIGHT have absent-mindedly asked for the slot for 5T06 early when it first arrived at the back road, and had it time out on me. I don't know if that might be something to do with it.

I don't think that is part of the issue, the number of times I have let the slot time out for all three trains am surprised the shunter is even still talking to me

Indeed :cheer:

With the loader there should be a logfile produced. If on the run you are doing now can you send that over to see if that sheds any light on the issue.

Cheers

Where would I find this log file? I;ve had a look around various folders, and I can't find anything that appears to be one.

Note - I started a new game, and 5T06 works fine now. So it must be something I did in the first game that messed it up.

The log file should be in the same folder as the simulations folder (so will vary on how you have your system set up).

As a result of your report it appears that there may have been an issue with the core code which has now been reported. Out of interest did you take a save between being told that permission had been given and the slot actually becoming visible?

I can't remember if I saved or not. What would the log file be called? I still can't find anything.

Got it. I've copied and pasted the bit from it that refers to my activity on Portsmouth yesterday:

The first part is the game I started at 00:00:00, and is the one that had the problem. The 04:45:00 game is the one I opened to attempt to re-create the problem, but which worked fine.

Is this the log file you mean?

(I've just noticed that the first entry doesn't contain a "Timetable" entry ...)
