15: From the old Thameslink entrance at Kings Cross to the new St Pancras Domestic?
But are there other tunnels you can then turn into? For example, from the booking hall back down to the Northern Line?

Quote:
(or for a non-railway answer: from King George V to Woolwich through the foot tunnel!)
You can walk through the Rotherhithe Tunnel, which is about three times as long. I suspect that's going to be the winner.
correct its the A101 Rotherhithe tunnel. 1481m or 4680ft in old money. It is allegedly used by 20 pedestrians a day and I can recommend it if you diesel exhaust fumes level are dropping. The southern approach includes a bridge over the platforms at Rotherhithe.

Peter.

Hi, I think for question 11:

They all were renamed from their "old" name what they were opened as, to an "old & current" name, finally to their "current" name

Knowle -> Knowle & Dorridge -> Dorridge
Vauxhall -> Vauxhall & Duddeston -> Duddeston
Churchill -> Churchill & Blakedown -> Blakedown

Hope I make sense lol

6a: Coventry and Nuneaton line (CNN)
6b: Somerset and Dorset line (SAD)
6a: Bretby Branch (BBC), Carbis Branch (CBS); both do news.
6c: Radford Junction to Linby Colliery Branch (RAC).
6d: London Bridge to Windmill Bridge Junction (LBW).
Clive,

Correct with RAC and LBW. BBC and CBS are general broadcasters, but news channels.

Unless you count only things people allowed to be on LU metals during a possession can do, in which case it would be "line walk from Morden to Camden Town and back to Kennington the other way". But I suspect for the purposes of this quiz that would be a bit of a cheat.
You can do a lot better than that! Off the top of my head:

East Finchley or Golders Green via CX to Kennington, then via Bank to Euston-ish, take the King's Cross Loop and then the Piccadilly to Finsbury Park, Victoria to Green Park, Jubilee to Baker Street, Bakerloo to Oxford Circus, then Central whichever way turns out to be longer. I'm sure I could do better with some thought.

Hmm: does using a parallel tunnel count as retracing your steps?
Not a cheat, but extremely lateral thinking! I can't imagine LUL shutting down the whole Northern line for a sponsored walk!

12: Smallbrook Junction
All correct, but 4f isn't the Lima I had in mind (I didn't even know Buenos Aires had a metro!)

Correct, I think you've put it better than I could. The station names have moved even though the station hasn't.

Oh, I like that one!

(At one point whenever I typed out the name of Seven of Nine from Star Trek Voyager I had to make a conscious effort not to spell it Severn... my brain just seems to be wired such that "something that sounds like seven" + "is proper noun" == "spelt Severn" ;))

Correct,

Not sure about the aspect! I started climbing signals (officially) when I was 13.

Sorry but not Stourbridge. I'll try and include a Stourbridge answer next year.

My friend NSEFAN just answered this one:

9. Haresfield up goods loop, near Gloucester - the signal displays no aspect until a train is routed up to it.

The question says "did", rather than "do", however...

Also, there's many locations with approach-lit signals - off the top of my head, I think Simsig Edinburgh includes a few on various goods loops.
