I took several tries to get 6R70 out of Falkland Yard North Sidings and off on its way to Chalmerston (Benbane), without losing the train from the sim or incurring penalties.

It would come out from North Sidings (NS), and run until it stopped at PA828, still facing up (towards Paisley).

It became fairly clear that the train was overlength for the Up Loop #2, and had not cleared the points at the exit of North Sidings. Whenever I tried to force it to change direction in the Up Loop #2 it just returned into North Sidings, where it left the sim, and disappeared from the F2 train list, without trace.

I made the train non-ARS, let it run forward into the Falkland Yard headshunt, then changed its direction to Down, hand signalled it to Falkland reception #1, made it ARS, and it went happily on its way towards Chalmerston.

Using Paisley version 4.3.1 with the 4.3.1 timetable.

PS - it would have been nice to have a signals diagram - how does one get a signal number from the main route screen?

From the Wiki:
Have a look at the "Right-click cancels Route" option.

You should not need to make the train non-ARS, but you will need to manually route it to the Head Shunt to clear the points (as you found).

Work in progress, will hopefully get it up before Christmas.

The need to shunt forward into the headshunt is mentioned on this Wiki page.

Thank you, Steamer, the answer is always mentioned somewhere that one has not looked; thanks for pointing me in the correct direction.
