Excellent sim Geoff, don't think any of us saw this coming. Maybe Dolton Junction in Chicago could be a future sim? As that is a complex interlocking worked by Towers on the main rail network with a large amount of freight traffic. That aside how could any of us say produce a 24 hour timetable for this Chicago Metro sim? Are available on the net or is it a case of trying to obtain one on e-bay?

Nice surprise, came totally out of left field. One comment regarding the included timetable though: Even though it is only intended to run for four hours, trains stop entering from Roosevelt quite a bit earlier. Other than that, Merry Christmas to everyone! Two million people attempt to use Birmingham's magnificent rail network every year, with just over a million of them managing to get further than Smethwick. Log in to reply |

Merry Christmas Geoff and co. Nice addition to the Simsig library. Chicago Loop. I have marveled at Tower 18 in Chicago for many years. It reminds me of when I am working Panel 5 at London Bridge ASC(Lewisham, Lewisham Vale Jn, St Johns and Tanners Hill Jn). Whilst there is a timetable for trains on Panel 5 LBASC, it is very much a hands on Panel where seconds not minutes matter. The same applies to Tower 18. Rarely does the Lewisham area get signaled as per the timetable. Trains are regulated to keep trains moving rather than keeping in booked order, parallel moves etc. Chicago Loop is a fun sim. As you have ventured out into foreign fields, how about some European sims? There are some excellent layouts in Germany with great flexibility that would make a fun and interesting sim. Professionalism mean nothing around a bunch of Amateur wannabees! Log in to reply |

Thanks for another interesting simulation. If anybody is wondering what the locations look like, here are some photos I took in August 2013.  Looking towards Clark/Lake station from an inbound brown line train.  Tower 18 from Clark/Lake Station.  Tower 12  Anti-Clockwise loop exit signal at Tower 12. I've found that if a train is stopped at Clark/Lake, a following train coming from either Washington/Wells or Merchandise Mart can draw right up to the station and clear the junction. A train coming from Clinton on the other hand stops at LP2_153 and blocks the junction until the preceding train departs Clark/Lake. Is that a bug or a restriction of the real interlocking? Many thanks for this one Geoff. I've travelled on the 'L' a couple of times, and I never could make out whether the towers were still manned or just remained as slave panels in event of emergency. The video which showed them being operated was great, but I have one question. Tower 18 and Tower 12 are shown in the sim, bur where is Clark Tower located which was also shown in the video clip? It was interesting to also note that to be a tower operator you had to progress from being a train operator. Thanks again for this nice little Xmas present from Simsig. Merry Xmas, Phil. The Red Line continues north to Howard, whilst the Brown Line takes the Ravenswood Branch to Kimball, whilst to the south the two lines share a four-track section to Armitage. Just found this blog post, thought it might be interesting: http://position-light.blogspot.co.uk/2014/11/photos-cta-mini-towers.html Interestingly enough, it states that Tower 12 is now usually controlled from Tower 18 except during the peaks.
