Just updated Victoria South East to the latest version and get this error on startup of a game saved in previous version. On acknowleging the error message, the sim proceeds to run with track circuit TLXC permanently occupied and unable to release via F11 menu.1P36 is actually occupying Track Circuit TLAXB at the time of the save. Saved game attached. There are other minor problems with routes that were set in the save not being set after the update but I appreciate that there can be monor niggles when running a saved game in a newer version. The inability to clear tc TLXC is a bit of pain though!! Saved game and error message attached. Post has attachments. Log in to view them. Log in to reply |

Games saved under previous versions are always likely to throw up oddities. The save may work correctly if played, but this is not a bug per se. Log in to reply |

As I said in original post, I expect certain minor niggles but I don't expect a permanent track circuit failure that can't be cleared rendering a save completely useless!

Can you attach a save from after 1F36 has vacated the track circuit?

The save attached in my original post is from the old version, when loaded in the new version 1P36 has already vacated the tc (TLXC) that is shown occupied. There is nothing else I can now provide, I can't go back to the old version and reload the save.

I've just experienced something similar with the Wimbledon sim when attempting to open a save after having downloaded yesterdays updates. Upon opening the sim I get an error message (screenshot attached). A short time later the screen goes milky white and Windows notifies me there is an error with the program (SimSig) and then closes the application. Post has attachments. Log in to view them. There seems to be an extra track circuit added (TLXG) between the two tracks you have quoted. When looking on the original download page version it isn't there, but it is on the updated one. Signal 82 has also changed from an automatic to a controlled signal. This all appears to be related to the addition of the 1980s era as there were points contained within TLXG in that era. It's only really a bug if you find it in a brand new game or a save there-from. You should never expect an old save to work on a new build, though in 99% of cases it will. In the old .exe days it was pretty much normal for a save not to work on a new build which could make testing during development a bit of a nightmare. Unfortunately the track you mentioned is one that changed from plain line to one with pointwork. Not a bug really, more an incompatibility between saving on one version and loading on another (hence the warning you got when you loaded it). SimSig Boss Log in to reply |

I will log this one as a bug, as looking at Peter Bennet's photos https://www.flickr.com/photos/95643843@N07/10276161815/in/set-72157636554838025 it seems that the current sim is different to the era in respect of S82 being controlled. The photo shows it as a single arrowed-button, suggesting exit only (which would be for a route set upto an auto) and there is an R switch above it. I cannot find any pictures of the TCs in the area, but this might be worth checking too. Log in to reply |

Agreed, but it isn't now by looking at Peters photo. Was just wondering if the addition of the 80s era had affected the others in some way. Log in to reply |

Can't say that I'm overly amused at having to either abandon the save and start again or put up with a permanent tc failure.

" said:" said:Yes, I appreciate that Geoff but I'd not experienced any problems with the milky screen and sim shutting down until I did the update issued yesterday. I was just trying to let people know the sequence of events prior to the issue occurring. Probably just a coincidence that it happened after I'd updated and I didn't explain myself very well.I've just experienced something similar with the Wimbledon sim when attempting to open a save after having downloaded yesterdays updates.Wimbledon was not included in yesterday's updates. I cannot see a way around it with your existing save on the current version, unless someone who has not yet updated could copy the .sim file for you before doing so. Not sure if that is allowed or not.

If the sim is an "update" the a fresh download should rewind. It maybe possible to edit the .ssg as it was with Paisley, how I don't know. Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Log in to reply |

Good idea Peter, hadn't thought of that, and I'd been looking at the SSG to see if I could find out what was wrong. Dick, try this. Post has attachments. Log in to view them. Log in to reply The following user said thank you: Dick |
