Local knowledge sought, please. In the current WTT, there are 8 car formations shown to exit the washer and run into platform 1A before going into the carriage sidings. This is confirmed on the platform workings. Now obviously 1A is far too short to accommodate much more than a 4 car, however the train would be behind a shunt dummy (626), so 1A to sidings would be a signalled move and drivers can still reach the cab without having to venture onto the ballast. This is a normal method of work. Until recently, 377 units were banned from 1a but they are now allowed to use it.
