I was wondering if anyone knew in times of disruption if there are any locations on the Clapham Jcn - Stratford route where trains can be turned back short particularly from the Clapham direction, (apart from Willesden Jcn). I wasn't sure about Camden Rd or Gospel Oak, it's been a while since I've been up that way since all the works have finished. Cheers Gareth Log in to reply |

Certainly Gospel Oak. The Stratford bound platform is reversible. I seem to recall that one of the terminus platforms at Highbury is actually a through line but I might be fabricating that in my head. And Battersea Park where a bay platform has been retained on the former South London Line. If Clapham Jn is blocked trains can be sent in to Battersea Pk from Wandsworth Road to reverse there. There is a timetabled train every day, presumably for route knowledge purposes.

Indeed, I've been on it. It causes a *hell* of a lot of confusion especially due to the time of night, to be honest it wouldn't surprise me if it ends up being replaced with an ECS run at some point (unless there's a reason this can't happen). The station staff I talked to don't seem to know much about the station's area either; advising people to wait 15 minutes for the next train to Clapham instead of simply changing at Battersea Park using the cross-platform interchange onto a Southern service. He even advised someone wait for the Clapham train who wanted Queenstown Road (Battersea)!
